Job Description
The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) is recruiting for the Fall 2025 semester within the Graphic Design program. The program is specifically looking for an instructor or more to teach one or more courses as follows:
Typical Duties: Semester course; 1 lecture and 6 studio hours. 4 credits. This course is designed to explore, identify, and develop models that allow students to shape their visual mode of expression. Through a series of projects, students will investigate different physical and digital tools to produce image-based solutions. The projects will explore language as a system and a mode of expression, and introduce students to the vast number of typefaces, ways to critically evaluate them, and develop a process considering formal, historical, and semantic aspects in selecting typefaces. These projects will encourage diverse experiences in creative problem-solving methodologies and idea-generating processes, working with technology to bring projects to a visually completed form. This class does not aim to provide students with complete solutions to all design problems but to introduce the various considerations a designer can approach regarding form, image, and typography. It will be the students' responsibility to demonstrate their ability to organize and relate diverse explorations and experimentations in a visually meaningful way.
