Full Job Description

The Regional Marketing and Communications department is responsible for delivering internal and external communications, public relations and marketing activity for Atkins in the Middle East.

Atkins has a rapidly growing business of more than 500 people in Qatar and is working on some of the State’s most critical infrastructure projects.

An exciting role has arisen for a PR and Communications Officer to support the in-country team with all aspects of its communications delivery, both internal and external. This is a broad and diverse role which is pivotal for the development of Atkins’ reputation and profile in Qatar and will involve working closely with the senior leadership team.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, Middle East, the successful candidate will be part of the Regional Marketing and Communications team, which will involve supporting some activities outside of Qatar, while also being able to draw on support for Qatar-based work as and when needed. The Regional Marketing and Communications department is responsible for delivering internal and external communications, public relations and marketing activity for Atkins in the Middle East.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills (both written and spoken), an instinct for news and the ability to identify opportunities to raise profile, whether locally, regionally or worldwide. You will be well versed in all aspects of the internal and external communications mix and you will be able to build strong relationships across the business to engage and enable best communications practice.

Qualifications

A relevant degree (Journalism, Public Relations, Communications), equivalent qualification or high levels of proven relevant experience.

Essential Criteria

At least five years’ experience in a communications focused role (experience in built environment sector desirable)
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English language (competence in Arabic desirable) and the ability to create a strong internal and external network
Appropriate IT skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook) and knowledge of the on-line and Social Media environment
Experience in prioritising a varied and busy workload, with own initiative at all times

Conceiving and delivering pan-regional media relations activities to develop Atkins’ reputation as a sector leader in Qatar
Creating strong profile for the in-country leadership team and technical experts
Maintaining speaker and event participation in line with strategic priorities
Managing senior stakeholder engagement programme
Leading in-country internal communications activities, including ownership of the Qatar SharePoint site, which will be the future vehicle for sharing technical and business information
Regularly contributing to regional and Group-wide internal communication channels (such as writing articles for the intranet and internal newsletters)
Supporting worldwide initiatives and internal campaigns led by Group Communications team
