Senior Consultant Rheumatology

Full Job Description

Job purpose:

The Senior Consultant- Rheumatology is responsible for delivering high-quality evidence-based care; effective and efficient diagnosing, managing, and treating all patients placed under the role holder’s care. S/He makes recommendations, and orders appropriate therapeutics and diagnostics as per the patient’s diagnosed condition.

Responsibilities :

• high-quality patient care according to his/her approved clinical privileges.
• participates in interdisciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, holistic care for individual patients.
• for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care and services within specialty areas.
• rounds, assesses inpatients and/or outpatients regularly, in line with established best practices.
• reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
• clinical excellence by effective and efficient diagnoses, managing, and treating all patients placed under post holder’s care.
• safe, effective, and holistic clinical services within accepted standards of care.
• documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion per established procedures.
• provide consultation services to other divisions within the department and other departments within the organization during the regular working and on-call hours
• with colleagues, allied health staff, nursing, administrative, and support services staff for additional input as required.
• appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources/committees.
• an active interest and involvement in research by initiating innovative clinical or research outcomes or collaborating on research projects to support practice at The View Hospital.
• abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
• Analyzing, examining, and investigating patients and their medical histories for signs and symptoms of rheumatology conditions.
• Discuss diagnoses with patients, explain treatment options, and give advice on medications, lifestyle and dietary changes, and other preventative measures.
• Carry out follow-up appointments, monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans and medications relating to rheumatology conditions, and update patient records.
• Supporting patients with serious or complex conditions and their loved ones.
• Keeping up-to-date knowledge on the various systems, diseases, disorders, and conditions to develop new treatment techniques.

Remaining up to date on current discoveries, developments, trends, research, and technology.

Education requirements:

• Bachelor in medicine (essential)
• Board-certified in the specialty area
• for Consultant in Rheumatology license as per MoPH criteria (TIER-I Preferably)
• Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence

Experience

• 3 years post CCT in rheumatology or Western equivalent.
• peer-reviewed paper or other publications.
• Minimum 1 year in GCC (preferred).

Language requirements :

English – Fluent, Arabic -preferred
