Senior Fire Engineer

Full Job Description

Atkins is one of the world's leading rail engineers. We have established a high profile presence in the Middle East through our role as Lead Designer on the Dubai Metro project, the Rail Systems designer on the Makkah Metro in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and numerous other rail, infrastructure and mixed use projects across the GCC region.

We are currently looking for a degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 8 years experience to join our team

Respons

As a member of the Fire Engineering team the post holder will be responsible for providing fire safety strategies and solutions. This will involve the preparation of strategy reports, review of designs, development of fire engineering solutions and liaison with other disciplines within the design team on fire safety related matters such as:-

Means of escape
Fire alarm and detection systems
Construction
Fire suppression systems
Fire modelling
Fire brigade access and facilities
Fire protection building services engineering design, from concept design through to construction issue and site supervision
Supervising the work of junior engineers
Carrying out design calculations on a variety of buildings
Preparing technical specifications
Supervising the preparation of BIM/CAD models and drawings
Representing Atkins at meetings with clients, contractors and Qatar Civil Defence
Site surveys and inspections
Report writing
Maintaining records and archives to company standards
Manage own workload
Monitor site works
Review of Fire Policy Drawings

Req

A relevant Fire Engineering qualification or Engineering degree.
Potential for Engineering Registration in Qatar
Around 8 years similar experience working in a design consultancy - some experience of working within a contractor environment is welcome
Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
Good report writing skills
A thorough working knowledge of relevant Fire Engineering Codes and Standards such as NFPA and BS EN.
Able to make presentations to clients and Qatar Civil Defence Department.
Represent company at meetings with clients
The post requires an individual who is self motivated with good communication skills and able to work individually, and as a team member to meet project deadlines
