Your Commitment As a faculty member, you will report to the Head of the Department and be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating a broad range of courses within Construction Engineering and related diploma, degree, and graduate programs. Reporting to the Dean, College of Health Sciences, the Associate Dean plays a pivotal role in supporting and advancing the strategic vision and academic leadership of the College. This leadership position is integral to the effective planning, organization, and management of the College’s diverse academic programs and initiatives. The Associate Dean actively collaborates with faculty, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to foster a dynamic educational environment that promotes excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Key responsibilities include providing leadership in managing faculty and administrative teams, promoting faculty professional development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic programs that align with the College’s mission and goals. The Associate Dean is dedicated to enhancing student success by supporting initiatives that improve learning outcomes, retention, and graduation rates.
Additionally, the Associate Dean is responsible for the comprehensive operational management of the College. This encompasses oversight of course scheduling, curriculum development, continuous program assessment and revision, faculty recruitment and retention, as well as budget planning and fiscal management.
The role demands close collaboration with Departments Heads and other College leaders to ensure efficient resource allocation and to maintain compliance with institutional policies and accreditation standards.

What you will doThe successful candidates will leverage research, policy, training, and education to guide New York and the nation toward a strong, fair, and resilient clean energy economy—addressing the climate crisis, creating high-quality union jobs, removing barriers to opportunity, and building a diverse and inclusive workforce that uplifts frontline communities. The Institute studies labor and employment impacts of the clean energy transition, designs pro-worker, pro-union climate policy, and delivers training and educational programs to unions, policymakers, the environmental movement, industry leaders and others.
Specifically, the Extension Associate will:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with labor unions (especially building trades and energy unions), environmental organizations, elected leaders, and other allies.
- Lead policy and technical research and analysis to design jobs-centered, pro-union and equitable climate policy.
- Plan, organize and implement educational convenings, trips, trainings and workshops based on CJI’s research, policy and expertise and partner needs.
- Become subject matter experts in labor and employment impacts across clean energy technologies (solar, wind, geothermal, hydrogen, building upgrades, low-carbon transportation, and more).

Term and location
Extension Associate is a non-tenure track, academic term position for up to a two-year term, with an initial term ending June 30, 2026.
