Key Responsibilities
- Ensure team adherence to accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory standards, and client specifications.
- Support the standardization of specifications, drawings, and document templates.
- Provide analytical input on technical solutions where appropriate.
- Apply local and international standards to maintain technical excellence.
- Conduct and support design checks, peer reviews, and integration of feedback.
- Supervise and guide Electrical designers and draftsmen in project execution.
- Understand project scope, budget, and schedule; support the team in meeting objectives and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure overall success.
- Monitoring quality, conducting squad checks, recommending improvements, and implementing corrective actions.
- Support the project team with proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules.
- Manage Electrical design activities and design changes within budget and schedule constraints.
- Prepare and participate in Electrical discipline meetings, compile progress reports, and ensure compliance with checking procedures.
- Review, validate, and approve technical documents in coordination with the team
- Perform power system studies in ETAP, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, harmonics, and power factor correction.
- Prepare load lists, single-line diagrams, Cable sizing calculations and Cable schedules
- Design inputs for electrical equipment layouts and cable routing plans (duct banks, trays, trenches, cellars) for substations and other facilities.
- Perform and review equipment sizing calculations (Capacitors, transformers, DG sets, UPS System, lighting (DIALux), earthing and lightning protection.
- Review lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection layouts, and distribution board schedules.
- Preparing Material Take Off
- Preparing Specifications, datasheets and Material requisition for all the Electrical Equipment
- Provide technical evaluations of bidder proposals, including layouts, site preparations, and compliance with project specifications.
- Lead and support a team of designers to produce, review, and finalize drawings and schedules.
- Maintain strong knowledge of codes, standards, and both onshore/offshore electrical design practices for oil and gas projects.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of Extensive experience in Electrical design and engineering for oil & gas and large industrial onshore/offshore projects.
- Experience with brownfield and asset services projects/contracts.
- Proficiency in performing design calculations
- Previous Qatar project exposure with knowledge of Shell DEP, QatarEnergy and other local regulations are highly desirable.

Typical responsibilities
- Produce, review, and take accountability for the accuracy of detailed calculations, electrical engineering datasheets, drawings and other deliverables to define the electrical engineering requirements of our projects
- Such electrical deliverables including but not limited to the design basis, load schedules, sizing calculations (equipment, cable, UPS, battery), experience with completing power system studies (short circuit, load flow, transient, motor starting and harmonic studies), relay settings, power adequacy, lighting/earthing/lightning protection deliverables, block & single line diagrams, electrical layouts (equipment, cable, tray, duct and trench), equipment specifications & datasheets, wiring & termination diagrams, preparation and development of enquiry packages including Specifications, Datasheets, Request for Quotation and Technical Bid Evaluation.
- Reviewing, checking and approving of these electrical deliverables to ensure accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue
- Supervise less experienced electrical engineers and, where required, be line manager for electrical engineers within Qatar office.
- Support recruitment, training and development of electrical personnel
- Follow company standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Engineering Manager
- Serves as the Lead Engineer and/or discipline technical authority when required on medium to large complexity projects
- When assigned as the lead, manages the electrical scope of work within the agreed budget and timeframe, ensuring that key milestones are met for the overall project delivery

Ideally, you will have graduated with minimum Higher Secondary School Education plus a three-year technical diploma (HNC, HND or equivalent).
Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 5 years offshore level on-field equipment in diversified oil & gas processing or petrochemical plants.
You are fluent in English with both written and verbal communication
You will have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Profile
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering
- 10-15 years of experience working in an oil & gas operator, with at least 5 years in asset integrity or reliability engineering
- Skilled and experienced in working in a multi-cultural and highly technical specialized environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- IEC 60079, IEC 61892, IEEE 3000 series, API 500/505, API RP 580/581.
- HVAC standards (ASHRAE, ISO 16813, NFPA 90A).
