The projects team focusing on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, Greenfield scopes of work. Typical responsibilities
  • Adheres to Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work.
  • Responsible for making sure their drawings and modelling adhere to Wood, Client, project, and/or all regulatory standards.
  • Carrying out various 3D modelling activities and preparation of deliverables as necessary on your appointed projects such as but not limited to Concrete & Steel structures, Piperacks, all Deck structures and appurtenances, Jacket Structures, and appurtenances etc.
  • Ensuring the quality, technical accuracy, and content of all project deliverables. Responsible for the self-checking attitude prior issuing drawings for checking (run a clash check in the 3D model of the items or area shown on the drawing, ensures structural compliance with structural specifications, connectivity of steel members is maintained, piece-marking system is in accordance with established guidelines, position and orientation of sites, zones, and strus are maintained etc.).
  • Coordinates with all disciplines (as necessary) in the preparation and development of the engineering deliverables and ensuring that the other disciplines' input is incorporated.
  • Responsible for interfacing with other disciplines to resolve any clashes that may be arise. If the clash cannot be resolved easily or will be resolved later, then it should be noted down according to procedures.
  • Performs site surveys and data gathering exercises at various project locations, both onshore and offshore.
  • Plans assigned work effectively and obtains/provides information liaising with the project team and line manager, in time to control man-hours and achieve targets.
  • Participates in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required.
  • Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in fields of expertise.
  • Takes a proactive approach to personal & professional development.
  • Seeks and supports opportunities for department and project improvement, contributing to the development of solutions.
  • Experienced with Civil and Structural 2D and 3D design tools such as Hexagon SP3D, Aveva E3D, Bentley AutoPlant, PDMS, PDS, Tekla, AutoCAD, Microstation etc. Aveva E3D experience is essential
  • Experienced in creating engineering and fabrication drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundation drawings, underground details and other concrete/steel for both onshore and offshore facilities.
  • Preferably the successful candidate will have experience in building and architecture design, for both onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities.
  • Experienced in planning and development of the facility Plot Plan focusing on equipment and piping supporting structures, foundation strategies, site arrangement etc. for the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Has experience with Qatar Oil & Gas customer design standards including Shell DEPs and international design codes and standards.
  • Has experience with plot plan and 3D model reviews for onshore and offshore facilities.
  • Experienced in preparation of material take-offs and assist with cost estimates.
  • A self-motivated, proactive individual with good verbal, written communication skills and good organisational awareness.
  • Display analytical and innovation skills to manage new technology.
  • Site engineering and construction experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Qualification and Experience Required:

Knowledge and/or Experience

Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide a team of Structural engineers and designers to generate FEED and detailed engineering design basis, specifications, drawings, conduct engineering analysis and associated calculations and recommend technical solutions for Topsides, Jacket for greenfield and brownfield modification projects.
  • Act as Lead Engineer in project execution, taking ownership of specific tasks within the project.
  • QA/QC, the structural team engineering deliverables for correctness and quality, marks-up any comments or revision of these documents and ensures that the changes are included and completed on the latest copies of all affected documents.
  • Able to check, correct design report, drawings developed by the team delivered as per the project requirement
  • Conduct technical review of the project to ensure compliance with client's specifications as well as resolving project technical queries
  • Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Familiar with International and client Codes, standards of offshore structures.
  • Assist the Discipline Manager in the day-to-day work performance and perform duty as Lead Structural Engineer as and when required
  • Overall supervision as well as on the job training of the engineers under him or her during project execution or as advised by the Discipline Manager
  • Motivate the structural teams' personnel and encourage the functions involvement in a project to maximize the productivity and morale of the project.
  • Builds positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Supports proposals by developing the discipline execution strategy, estimating costs, writing proposal content, and presenting to customers.
  • Supports the business by communicating team resource loading and skill requirements to Discipline Manager.
  • Undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competency, as required by the Discipline Manager from time to time.
  • Demonstrate appreciation of commercial and technical risks, managing these appropriately within own work and highlighting any significant issues to Discipline Manager.
  • Supports management of project change and progress for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progress, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability.
  • Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.

Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or master's degree in Structural or Offshore Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in Oil & Gas Industry and offshore engineering design consultancy
  • Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, Grade A Category as a mandatory requirement

  • Proven experience in performing advanced structural analysis using SACS software (essential).
  • In depth knowledge with International and client standards specifications like ISO codes, API codes, AISC codes, CAP437, DNV codes, Shell Dep codes, etc.

Typical responsibilities
  • Acts as Planning focal point for specific project scopes
  • Review and maintain planning control structures are developed and maintained in alignment with approved project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Review and maintain baseline project plans and schedules using appropriate scheduling software.
  • Monitor and control planning activities through all phases of project lifecycle
  • Liaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions, and others as required, including third parties, to maintain awareness of project activities, their status, and their impact on the project schedule and manpower requirements.
  • Provide copies of project plans and schedules in accordance with project reporting requirements.
  • Provide copies of project progress and performance status reports in accordance with project reporting requirements.
  • Review and issue updates to project plans and schedules

  • Monitor and assess schedule impact of change notifications
  • Monitor and review overall project progress status, achievement of major milestones, and evaluate project performance in relation to planned performance.

Responsible for ensuring that:
  • Project schedules are maintained in accordance with approved contract and project Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Project plans and schedules are issued in accordance with contract reporting calendar and on an as required basis.
  • All project schedules are fully logic linked and show the critical path and total float for all activities.
  • The project schedule is baselined at the time of approval by the client of funding for the project.
  • All project schedules contain resources in accordance with the corporate standards
  • Work packs delivery milestones are clearly identified within the project schedules.
  • A standard set of agreed milestones are maintained within both the schedule and the cost reporting database.

Responsibilities
  • Perform conceptual, FEED, Studies, and detailed offshore analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards.
  • Perform preliminary sizing for structural members to provide preliminary input to Structural 3D and 2D modelling
  • Prepares structural computer models using SACS for primary steel geometry and loadings, and undertakes structural analyses for all anticipated operating, installation, transportation, loadout and fabrication conditions
  • Ensures structural compliance with structural specifications as well as applicable code requirements and national / international standards.
  • Prepares structural engineering input for secondary and tertiary steel design, prepares structural design sketches for input to 3D modelling/ 2D drawing production and prepares computed aided or hand calculations for justification of structural configuration for compliance with specifications and relevant design codes
  • Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.
  • Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures of structural primary and secondary steel design to demonstrate compliance with design codes and specifications.
  • Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area.
  • Familiar with International and client Codes, standards of offshore structures.
  • Provide on job training for the younger engineers under him or her during project execution or as advised by direct supervisor or the Discipline Manager
  • Liaise with other disciplines to accommodate their requirements and with Designers in the preparation of structural drawings and details
  • Perform design verification through single discipline check and assist with inter-discipline checks (IDC).
  • Undertakes structural weight estimation for input into the project weight report
