Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a broad range of courses in Respiratory Therapy within the College of Health Sciences. S/he will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment. The successful candidate will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and control projects within the specified program area. Faculty members will keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the University and beyond.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A PhD or Doctorate in Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory-related health field. Those whose PhD or Doctorate is not in Respiratory Therapy must hold a graduate degree and/or undergraduate degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Candidates must hold/eligible for an unrestricted license for the state/country in which the program is located.

Experience

  • Demonstrated record of academic experience and Respiratory Therapy practice.
  • A minimum of five (5) years full-time equivalent recent (within six months) academic experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent clinical practice experience.
  • Demonstrated competence with curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated use diverse and current teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.
  • Demonstrated academic and information literacy skills.

Scholarship and Research

  • Demonstrated contribution to the advancement of knowledge through applied research, scholarship, publication, knowledge transfer or professional practice which would be expected to be international in its scope.
  • Preference given to candidates with demonstrated contribution to quality improvement, curriculum development and to teaching and learning.

  5. Provides highly specialist clinical expertise in the provision of orthotics, including the fabrication of custom made, thermoplastic splints, for the purposes of managing tone and spasticity and / or facilitating or limiting movement in accordance with a designated treatment protocol or care plan.
  6. Takes an active role within the development of the Rehabilitation service, delivering In-Service training, facilitating / delivering the training and development of non-therapy staff, and sharing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
  7. Manages own time and caseload with an awareness of limitation of the therapy service and a knowledge of specialist facilities and appropriate referral and provides support to colleagues and direct reports to manage their caseload.
  8. Demonstrates specialised therapeutic moving and handling skills in the assessment and treatment of clients and gives specialist advice to staff, client, carers, and family on the correct manual handling techniques, undertaking highly specialized manual handling risk assessments as appropriate.
  9. Acts as a key figure within the Hospital, in the provision of specialist knowledge and skill in the Occupational Therapy assessment, management and treatment of patients, within a broad scope or defined clinical specialism.
  10. Advocates the benefits of Occupational therapy where necessary, using clinical reasoning, evidence practice examples, recognised international guidelines / care standards within the Occupational therapy team and wider organisation.
  11. Adheres to all departmental and facility wide policies, procedures, risk assessments and processes in the interest of maintaining a safe and effective work environment and promoting the highest quality patient care experience.
  12. Practises a clear, concise, and timely documentation of clinical records including (but not limited to) initial assessment, re-evaluation, treatment sessions, discharge planning, referral letters and reports using a variety of digital applications and IT systems.
  13. Takes responsibility for security, care, and day to day maintenance of equipment and working environment.
  14. Maintains appropriate infection control practices and training, to maintain the safety of patients and colleagues.

Physiotherapist in Doha, Qatar

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our team in Doha. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care, assessing and developing treatment plans, and helping patients reach their goals.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, as they will be interacting with a variety of people. They should be able to think critically and work with a diverse patient population. We are seeking someone who is organized, reliable, and passionate about helping others.

The candidate should have at least 2-3 years of experience in physical therapy. A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or Exercise Science is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, as well as the ability to research new treatment options and approaches.

Responsibilities include assessing patients' needs, developing individualized treatment plans, monitoring progress, educating patients on self-care techniques, making referrals to other healthcare providers when necessary, collaborating with healthcare teams, completing documentation, and utilizing technology to track patient progress.
