Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our client's Oil & Gas project team, a multinational engineering company in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for FEED and detailed engineering activities for both greenfield and brownfield projects, with a focus on offshore facilities. This role requires hands-on experience in instrumentation design, strong knowledge of international codes and standards, and the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute instrumentation and control engineering for FEED and detailed engineering projects.
- Ensure compliance with QatarEnergy, Shell DEP, and other applicable international codes and standards.
- Support detailed design activities for offshore brownfield modifications.
- Prepare and review Material Requisitions (MRs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), and Technical Queries (TQs).
- Coordinate with vendors for deliverable reviews and package evaluations.
- Support project teams in SIL assessment and IPF classification activities (preferred).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to meet project objectives and schedules.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited university.
- 5–6 years of relevant experience in FEED and detailed engineering for Oil & Gas projects, including offshore.
- Proven experience in offshore brownfield modifications.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation codes, standards, tools, and industry practices.
- Experience in preparation and review of MRs, TBEs, and TQs.
- Exposure to IPF classification and SIL assessments preferred.

Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop arrangement and detail conceptual, FEED, studies, and detail design drawings of high technical quality and professional consistent presentation ensuring clarity and ease of construction
- Develop 3D models and ensure clash-free with other disciplines
- Ensure design deliverables are completed and issued per project specifications, MDR, and project Level 2 & 3 procedures, and within agreed schedules and budgets
- Apply knowledge and/or skills to a range of activities

- Assist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them to proceed with their deliverable
- Generate IDC design documentation for the project
- Perform design verification through single discipline checks (SDC)and/or inter-discipline checks (ID), provide comments to Lead Designer
- Review all project IDC design documentation for detailed technical interface
- Maintain single discipline and inter-discipline check drawings and filing, that include final archiving
- Assist fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design, problems, clash, etc.

- Travel to the fabrication yard or offshore to assist in mechanical completion, hookup, and/or commissioning, as required
When acting as Lead Engineer, in addition:
Act as project-based Discipline point of contact in communications and meetings with Customer counterpart
- Ensure substantive communication is documented
- Prepare bid and project Discipline engineering budget and execution plan, update as required
- Identify project staff needs based on knowledge of individual engineers' skill sets and provide requests to the Discipline manager
- Plan, organize, and assign tasks, responsibilities, and manhour budget to the discipline team, and verify tasks are completed within budget
- Plan Discipline Level 4 detail deliverable schedule/ register compliant with the overall execution plan
- Prepare work forecast to identify change management plan, corrective action, and real-time schedule

- Become familiar with the contract scope of work, specification, and schedule, and fully familiar with all inter-discipline requirements: including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issue
- Liaise with discipline lead designers to ensure interface responsibilities are clearly defined and understood
- Monitor changes to scope and ensure changes are communicated to all impacted discipline design lead

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education
- High school graduate with a diploma in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Design, or Drafting in a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 14 years of experience with a major contractor or consultant of which 9+ years of experience in predominately offshore oil and gas
- Detailed knowledge of associated industry detailing standards and codes
- Detailed knowledge of 3D and 2D drafting and material control systems (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation)
- Working and/or reviewing experience in PDMS and/or PDS/SPM
- Capable of handling multiple projects
- Recognized expert in one or more skill sets
- Knowledge of QA systems and a good communicator
- Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills
- Detailed knowledge of AutoCAD and/or macro compilation skills would be an advantage
