SummaryThe purpose of this role is to ensure accurate and timely data related to cancer patients, which will help in early detection, improving services, treatments, and increasing survival rates. The role involves maintaining the HMC Clinical Cancer Registry with precise data to assist in cancer services at HMC. The CTR examines medical and pathology records to determine patient eligibility for the registry, abstracts medical records by translating medical terminology into standardized codes recording diagnosis and treatment information, and protects patient information.
Education/Qualifications Required:- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field plus Cancer / Tumor Registry Course OR
- Bachelor’s Degree plus Internationally certified Cancer / Tumor Registry Course.
- Minimum 8 years experience in healthcare related field, with 3 years in Healthcare Data Management for Bachelor’s Degree holders.
- OR minimum 9 years’ experience in Healthcare Data Management for a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Identify, compile, update, and maintain patient data from various sources.
- Abstract data into specialized medical software, including patient demographics, diagnostic procedures, treatment history, outcomes, follow-up data, and physician information.
- Maintain data quality, abstracting at a rate of 6-8 cases with an error rate of 10% or less, and keep backlog under six months.
- Assign appropriate codes for treatments, procedures, and diagnoses, review data for accuracy, and update as necessary.
- Perform lifetime follow-up on patient health, vital status, and disease progression for quality and planning purposes.
- Monthly case finding and review of reports, certificates, and records to identify cancer cases.
- Contribute to study planning, report writing, data analysis, and prepare reports as per guidelines.
- Create narrative reports, graphs, and presentations of tumor registry data.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Public Health regarding cancer registry data.
- Prepare and code abstracts according to ICD-O, SEER, AJCC, FORDS, and other standards, summarizing clinical history and observations.
