Key responsibilities

  • Electrical equipment layout and cable way planning (ductbanks, trays in cable cellar/trenches) in substations and electrical rooms in other buildings.
  • Performing / checking equipment sizing calculations (transformers, DG, UPS-Battery), lighting calculations (DIALux), Earthing calculations (ETAP), Lightning Protection calculations (IEC 62305).
  • Checking of lighting and small power layouts, earthing layouts, lightning protection layouts, DB schedule.
  • Effectively plan, help a team of designers in getting various drawings and schedules prepared, checked.
  • MV cable sizing based on IEC60287 using CYMECAP will be an added advantage.
  • A thorough knowledge of the regulations, codes and standards and a good knowledge of onshore & offshore engineering practices applicable to electrical design for oil and gas facilities.

Requirements

Industry Specific Experience :

  • Must have vast experience in Electrical design and engineering of oil & gas / large industrial projects in Onshore projects.
  • Experience in brown fields & asset services type project / contracts.
  • Experience in MV cable sizing based on IEC60287 using CYMECAP will be an added advantage.
  • Qatar project experience with knowledge of Kahramaa standards is preferred.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training :

  • Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.

Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Consultant Supervision (Building Projects)

Location: Qatar

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our consultant supervision team in Qatar. The role focuses on overseeing electrical and ELV works for building projects (commercial, residential, high-rise, mixed-use, and institutional). The candidate will ensure that all works comply with approved designs, project specifications, QCS/QCDD/Kahramaa regulations, and international standards

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve electrical shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements for building systems.
  • Supervise and monitor contractors' works on-site for power distribution (MV/LV), lighting, fire alarm, emergency lighting, access control, CCTV, BMS, data/ICT, earthing, lightning protection, and other ELV systems.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Raise and follow up on non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and architectural teams to resolve site conflicts and service coordination issues.
  • Witness and verify testing & commissioning of electrical and ELV systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), QCDD, and Kahramaa standards.
  • Participate in progress and technical meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare supervision reports, snag lists, and final handover documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience, including at least 5 years in consultant supervision roles for building projects in Qatar/GCC.
  • UPDA/MMUP Grade A/B certification (mandatory for consultant roles in Qatar).

Additional Requirements:

  • Language: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
  • Driving License: Valid Qatari driving license preferred.
  • Availability: Must be available to join immediately or within a short notice period.
