Job Description
Summary: The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts, Qatar (VCUarts, Qatar) Painting & Printmaking is establishing a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. The pool of applicants could be drawn upon to provide temporary staffing when needed, particular teaching expertise when needed, and/or to meet special programmatic needs not otherwise provided for within the program. This pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises. Possible adjunct opportunities include teaching a course(s) in any area of study offered by Painting & Printmaking. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted if available. Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the Painting & Printmaking department. They desire to work and engage with a broad range of students in a collaborative, welcoming, and learning-centered community of fellow adjunct instructors, students, faculty, and staff.
Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of adjunct vacancies from semester to semester. However, we invite qualified applicants who are willing to accept part-time teaching work on an as-needed basis to apply.
Duties Include: - Teaching courses as needed
- Developing course syllabi
- Working with department faculty on course planning
- Working comfortably with Canvas, the University’s Learning Management System
- Holding one office hour per week per course taught
- Providing feedback to students and grading all assessments in a timely manner
- Submitting grades according to University policy
- Using VCU email for all VCU work-related responsibilities
