The College of Engineering and Technology invites applications for faculty positions in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Associate Professor and Assistant Professor ranks.

Responsibilities

Your Commitment

As a faculty member, you will report to the Head of the Department and be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating a broad range of courses within Chemical Engineering and related diploma, degree, and graduate programs. You will also evaluate student progress and manage the learning environment resources. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with industry and other educational institutions, participate in industry advisory committees, and coordinate, manage, and supervise final year/capstone projects within the specified program area.

You will keep course portfolio documents required for program review and accreditation processes and engage in instructional and new program development. The College encourages applications from research-active faculty members who will also enhance applied research and innovation.

Education and Experience Requirements

Faculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their education and experience. The broad criteria are provided below.

For Associate Professor and Assistant Professor

  • A PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field, specifically Process Safety, Process Control, Plant Operation, Plant Trouble Shooting and Transport Phenomenon, f rom an internationally recognized and accredited institution.

Experience

  • A track record of academic excellence from internationally recognized and accredited institutions.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of academic experience after the PhD.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of industrial experience related to the field of study.
  • Competency in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Apply various teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences, including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.
  • Ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.
  • Demonstrate academic and information literacy skills.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineering Lead to join our dynamic team for the operator compression project, covering both greenfield and brownfield scopes. **About this role**
- Drive process engineering activities, providing related technical knowledge, design, quality assurance, leadership and expertise while supervising and administering process design team in accordance with Project deliverables and approved execution schedule.
- Direct the preparation and stewardship of Process Engineering scope of work for feasibility studies, advice and recommend design procedures, processes deliverables and alternative studies, as required, to optimize project cost and schedule.
- Maintain close liaison with members of PMT Engineering teams and alignment with the Engineering Manager on Project process engineering needs, objectives, and requirements.
- Ensure that execution of process engineering work is technically aligned and in compliance with LNG operations, policies, standards of business conduct and LNG Project Management System.
- Provide Process technical/engineering expertise and support to PMT during vendors technical bid evaluations, assessing qualifications and process experience of engineering companies, and evaluating usage of appropriate design tools, including computer hardware and software; in adherence with all Project objectives, requirements, specifications, standards, procedures, execution plans and design verification processes.
- Review and validate Licensors, FEED CTR and vendor process deliverables to ensure compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
- Maximize design replication, while minimizing schedule and cost impact.
- Assess potential risks to integrated process, utilities, and offsite systems, and develop initiative
- taking mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions, including during commissioning, start-up, and early operations.
- Implement effective knowledge capture, storage, and dissemination; sharing previous process engineering lessons learned and communicating them to support review teams and future projects and accelerate their learning and development for continual improvement.

**What you need to bring**
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
- 15 years’ experience in process engineering discipline with at least 10 years in oil & gas projects and/or operations.
- FEED and EPC detailed design experience with LNG facilities process and utility systems (including combined cycle power plant, WHRUs, water desalination, cooling towers and wastewater treatment).
- Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with people from variety of cultural backgrounds.
- A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong technical, prioritization and management skills.
- Strong understanding of process simulation software (Hysis, Pro/II).

Qualifications & Experience Required




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.

  • Minimum of 8 years oil and gas process engineering work experience five.

  • Extensive knowledge of offshore projects Engineering. In-depth knowledge of Process engineering design, standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria.

Activities:




  • Advises the Head of Process and supports the various project(s) in all Process Engineering discipline related matters. Shall be flexible and team orientated.

  • Supports PMT Engineering in monitoring the Contractor’s progress on delivery of the required documents in the Process Engineering disciplines.

  • Provides Process engineering leadership and expertise while supervising and administering Process team. Review and approval of EPC contractor engineering deliverables/ simulations/ calculations, study reports.

  • Performs process engineering studies, calculations, simulations, develop Basis of Design, Technical notes, adequacy assessment to support the project scope.

  • Plans and schedules the Process engineering deliverables to enable efficient project execution, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with company operational policies, standards of business conduct and project management system.

  • Maintains close liaison with appropriate members of Engineering Teams and gains alignment with the Engineering Manager on project engineering needs, objectives, and requirements.

  • Leads/Participates in key design workshop and ensure that Process design recommendations are correctly implemented and actions closed (Design Review, Lessons Learned, Value Engineering, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, engineering criticality assessment).

  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts with respect to the disciplines involved in delivery of the Process Engineering and ensures endorsement of Process Technical deviations to Company specifications when required.

  • General understanding of multi discipline engineering (mechanical/piping/ instrumentation /etc) and ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Accountable for being knowledgeable of lessons learned from previous projects with the same contractor and capturing and communicating Process engineering and design lessons learned for the current project.
