About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Application Portfolio & Performance Specialist to oversee and optimise a complex portfolio of business-critical applications across both technical (petroleum) and corporate domains. This role requires an experienced professional who can lead performance, governance, and licensing strategies, while coordinating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and business leads.
This is a key position within the digital technology division of a major energy organisation, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to shape strategic systems across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a large-scale portfolio of 200+ technical and business applications used by 2000+ users
- Lead application lifecycle management, including strategy, adoption tracking, consolidation, and rationalisation
- Act as custodian of the application portfolio and related configuration management data
- Collaborate closely with business leads from Petroleum Operations, Engineering, Drilling, Major Projects, HR, Legal, and more
- Oversee licensing frameworks, usage, expiry tracking, and optimisation efforts
- Manage technical infrastructure including 4 license servers and 2 core servers
- Ensure systems and licensing are compliant with internal frameworks and security policies
- Act as SME for license optimisation tools and processes, delivering technical support as required
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, service catalogues, SOPs, and architecture landscapes
- Liaise with external vendors to manage performance, compliance, and cost-efficiency
- Support contract renewals and procurement processes by assessing usage reports and optimisation potential
- Monitor application performance, user adoption, availability, and recurring issues
- Interface with infrastructure, security, data management, and change advisory board teams
- Contribute to budgeting and cost-saving initiatives by tracking software expenses and identifying efficiency opportunities
- Ensure adherence to cyber security controls and corporate digital policies
Skills & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 10+ years' experience in the oil and gas sector
- 5+ years' experience in application portfolio and performance management
- Solid understanding of licensing optimisation tools and software lifecycle management
- Proven leadership in application governance across technical and corporate domains
- Experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing licensing frameworks
- Familiarity with IT governance, CMDB management, and digital architecture design
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
