Job Description

Position Overview :

The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring that Raffles & Fairmont Doha complies with all safety regulations and that the work environment is safe for all employees and guests. The role involves monitoring workplace activities to ensure that staff and guests follow company policies and government safety regulations, as well as facilitating training programs to prevent accidents and injuries. This position also entails investigating accidents, preparing reports, and recommending preventive measures.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with Qatar’s safety laws, regulations, and company policies. Conduct regular inspections of the property, facilities, and equipment to identify potential hazards. Maintain safety standards in alignment with local regulatory requirements (e.g., QCS, QCDD) and industry best practices. Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety risks within the hotel premises. Develop and implement corrective measures to address risks and ensure the safety of all guests, employees, and contractors. Safety Training: Develop, coordinate, and conduct safety training programs for employees on topics such as fire safety, health and safety regulations, evacuation procedures, etc. Educate staff on the importance of adherence to safety protocols and encourage a culture of safety awareness. Incident Management: Investigate any incidents or accidents, including near-miss events, within the hotel premises. Compile detailed reports, document findings, and recommend preventative measures. Maintain a log of accidents and report the data to the appropriate authorities when required. Emergency Response Planning: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency evacuation and disaster recovery plans. Coordinate regular fire drills, first aid training, and other emergency procedures with relevant stakeholders. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare reports on safety violations, accidents, and unsafe working conditions, and suggest remedial actions. Maintain all safety-related records, documents, and certifications. Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities and insurance providers regarding safety compliance and incident investigation. Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills :

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Certified in safety-related qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA will be an advantage. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably within the hospitality industry or similar. Experience working in luxury hotels, large facilities, or similar environments is preferred. Skills: Strong knowledge of Qatari health and safety regulations and international best practices. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Ability to train and motivate employees to comply with safety standards. Proficiency in preparing detailed safety reports and documentation.

Key Responsibilities: To provide, with full responsibility and accountability, a technical service to Corporation in the areas of Health and Safety during definition, detailed design and execution stages to ensure contractor(s) compliance to established HSE policies, procedures and regulations. Carries out duties and responsibilities for all areas of work covered in HSE aspects of Major Projects. Ensures adherence by QP and contractor personnel to HSE policies, procedures and regulations with respect to active/passive fire safety systems, special protection systems, life safety and fire risk assessment, safety studies/reviews, security systems, emergency response programs, emergency lighting and communication systems etc. Responsible for monitoring related activities within project sites and conducting daily inspection and ensuring the work being carried out is in line with approved JSA, Risk Assessment, and Method Statement and approved Permit to Work System. Responsible for identifying and implementing risk reduction measures in all areas and phases of construction. Participate and assist in checking and reviewing method statements, JSA's, safety certifications and other related documents submitted by contractors/project consultant.
