We are looking to hire a Business Development Officer (BDO) with 5-10 years’ experience in sales of banking and payment solutions. The BDO must have worked with all renowned banks in Qatar and will be responsible for the sales cycle from cold calls to signing contracts to recurring maintenance. BDO will perform market analysis and will develop the relationships with the management and senior staff in the banking and Financial Service Industry.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and enhance sales targets established by ProgressSoft.
  • Prepare and execute a sales plan for Qatar's market which meets ProgressSoft’s Strategy and Business plan.
  • Manage the whole sales cycle, coordinating with Product Owners, Project Managers and Technical Team Leaders.

  • Manage business development activities in Qatar, as well as in the EMEA, Americas and APAC regions, assessing business opportunities relating to existing and new potential power/water assets.
  • Manage business activities and relationships with contractors, developers, business partners and other agencies involved in QEWC projects and programs.

  • Lead and support business trends analysis in EMEA, Americas, APAC markets by reviewing reports of detailed quantitative and qualitative research, identifying new investment opportunities and ventures at targeted locations in alignment with QEWC's overall growth strategy.
  • Take leading role in understanding external & internal EMEA, Americas, APAC environment, such as economic, political, social, competitive, and regulatory factors, and ensure that the same is captured in the business planning process.
  • Build strong working relationships with market research firms, including external consultants and advisors and any other key sources for relevant market information.
  • Present technical feasibility analysis related to perspective business opportunities within the EMEA, Americas, APAC regions, highlighting key risks and issues associated with them, and coordinate with the M&A and Finance teams to prepare comprehensive business / financial studies.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of the department strategy ensuring alignment to divisional strategy, QEWC’s vision, mission and corporate objectives.
  • Ensure that department strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, which are aligned with the vision and mission of the organisation.
  • Ensure the provision of subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and provide counsel to QEWC leadership on all related areas to facilitate the achievement of QEWC’s strategy and divisional strategies.
  • Lead the department through effective leadership, setting objectives, managing performance, and developing and motivating the team to maximise performance.
  • Lead talent development initiatives for the department, ensuring the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial performance, monitor costs and revenues, identify areas of underperformance, and capitalise on opportunities for cost reduction or performance improvement.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of QEWC services department policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of the assigned function to meet requirements while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
  • Lead change management by driving continuous improvement of department systems, processes and practices in line with global standards and business needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate departmental reports that meet QEWC requirements, policies, and quality standards.
  • Participate in execution of QEWC's long-term business strategy and provide guidance to assimilate developments into business/operational strategies; operate under the mandates of the Chief Business Development Officer, with accountability and transparency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or similar discipline from a reputable university with a preference for candidates holding an MBA.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking with strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Solid leadership and people management skills; ability to lead teams from a multi-cultural background.
  • Established understanding of power/energy and water sectors, emerging trends, technologies and key players.
  • Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (significant plus).
  • Excellent relationship building, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders, senior executives, management teams and external partners/advisors through collaboration in a non-hierarchical framework.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment.
