Doha British Schools are a cluster of outstanding schools that provide a British educational provision for over 2500 students in Qatar.
Doha British School Ain Khaled, was founded in 1997 and is a private co-educational day school for students from Foundation Stage to Year 13, offering the National Curriculum of England and IB programmes. Students follow the English Early Years Foundation Stage, the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and at Key Stage 4 a comprehensive range of IGCSE courses. At Post-16 the school is the only school in Qatar to offer 4 different pathways for our Post 16 provision, which include AS/A level, BTEC and the IB Diploma programme.
Doha British Schools educational provision has grown as a result of its outstanding reputation, with the opening of the Al Wakra campus in 2014 which offers outstanding education for students from EYFS to Post 16 and our latest addition, Rawdat Al Hamama which currently offers a British style education from EYFS to Year 10. Both campuses will be moving into new buildings with state of the art facilities over the course of the next 2 years.

**Successful applicants must have**:
- An undergraduate degree or post-graduate qualification in Librarianship
- Experience of working in libraries preferable academic libraries
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Knowledge or experience of using databases, e-books and e-journals
- Experience in teaching information literacy skills.
- Experience of using library management system (LMS)
- Proactive and imaginative approaches to the provision and promotion of Library services and resources
- Knowledge of young people’s literature and interests
- Awareness of current developments in Library/resource centre management
- Experience of working with young people in multicultural settings
- Experience of managing school library and staff
- Awareness of British school curriculum including AS Levels
- Knowledge of IB Diploma and Certificate including the requirements of the Extended Essay

- Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up to date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
- Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilise appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
- Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans, etc.
- Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
- Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teaching strategies that meet student needs and abilities (e.g., late-entering students, ESL, low academic ability, gifted and talented).
- Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academic development, progress, and attainment of students and use assessment to ensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
- Display competence in using media and technology in the classroom.
- Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
- Communicate with persons outside the school where appropriate (e.g., Ministry of Education officials).
- Participate in appraisal and Performance Management procedures and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Work alongside colleagues on the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, courses of study, and pastoral arrangements.
- Participate in, and lead where appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes in the school. Promote good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences.
- Monitor and supervise safe and appropriate student behavior. Plan and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior.
- Model and encourage cultural awareness and understanding and promote a love of learning.
- Assist in the planning and organising of school events and functions (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days, etc.).
- Communicate and meet with parents regularly, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents regularly informed of students’ progress while respecting the confidentiality of student-related information.
- Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks require additional commitment.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers/supervisors.
