The Presales Engineer is responsible for identifying and matching technology opportunities with a customer’s business issues and objectives, as well as channel partner training & enablement. Having wide-ranging field sales engineering experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Duties & Responsibilities

Providing presales technical support of the sales process across the Products and Solutions. Cooperating with the sales teams in assessing potential application of the products to meet customer’s business needs. Conducting product demonstrations and technical presentations remotely, at customer locations or other suitable facilities on the products value proposition. Building complex, multi-product proof of concept solutions for customer evaluations as part of a sales engagement process. Leveraging product knowledge to provide technical expertise to internal sales teams, partners and end users. Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's in computer science, Software Engineering, or related.
  • 10+ years managing software engineering, AI, or data analytics projects in Oil & Gas or similar heavy industries.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and aligning diverse stakeholders.
  • Communication: Articulate technical concepts-architecture diagrams, code quality metrics-to both technical and non technical audiences.
  • Analytical: Extract insights from performance metrics, error rates, and project KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Problem Solving: Quickly diagnose system failures, code regressions, and data pipeline issues, and lead resolution.
  • Deep expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and a solid grasp of Waterfall practices.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), and cloud platforms (OCI, GCP).
  • Solid understanding of the architectural and operational differences between cloud-native and on-premises software environments.
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English.
  • Must be eligible and authorized to work in the Doha (Qatar).
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSC or PhD is a plus
  • Proven experience in enterprise technology consulting and managing complex AI solution deployments, particularly within industrial or high-tech sectors.
  • Deep technical expertise in AI frameworks, platforms, and integration methodologies.

EMEA Marketing Manager

Canonical is looking for a regional marketing manager who will be responsible for developing long-term marketing strategy and executing campaigns for EMEA across a diverse range of products and industries to support our growth strategy. This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary and dynamic position, requiring close collaboration with the regional sales teams, the partner teams, product teams, and other marketing functions.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, technology marketing and the use of technology in marketing. This role reports to the EMEA and Americas regional marketing team manager.

Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

What your day will look like

  • Develop and execute solution-focused go-to-market strategies across key Canonical offerings (e.g. security, apps, cloud infrastructure, or IoT)
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into compelling value propositions for target industries and personas
  • Build and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns aligned with solution-specific goals
  • Collaborate with product management, sales, alliances, and marketing to align messaging, prioritize use cases, and support pipeline acceleration
  • Define and track KPIs for demand generation, solution awareness, and engagement; monitor performance and iterate for impact
  • Own webinars and industry events tied to solution areas: plan, execute, and coordinate holistic pre/post-event strategies
  • Work with the growth engineering teams to segment, engage, and nurture audiences around relevant solution themes
  • Support the sales enablement process by supporting the delivery of playbooks, messaging guides, competitive briefs, and customer-facing content with PMs

We expect members of the Canonical marketing team to be excellent communicators who are at ease working with a complex mix of engineers, product managers, sales representatives and executives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Solution Architecture Development:
    • Design comprehensive scalable, and interoperable solutions to meet customer needs, including integrated digital substations, centralized and distributed architecture incorporating hardware, software, and communication interfaces.
    • Design & Ensure solutions are cyber-resilience, customer compliant, and budget optimized.
    • Develop, standardized and maintain solution blueprints and architectures.
  • Solution Differentiation & Value Creation
    • Create solution's differentiators aligned with market and addressing customer pain points.
    • Demonstrate value propositions through technical performance, total cost of ownership (TCO), and system-wide benefits.
    • Lead proof-of-concept (PoC), Demos, Workshops and pilot project initiatives to showcase solution feasibility and benefits.
  • Pre-Sales, Proposal & Customer Engagement:
    • Lead and support SPEC-In activities with technical specifications write up/guides to position GE Vernova solutions in customer tenders and technical specifications.
    • Support the sales function through reviewing RFQ, Writing and review technical proposals, including value proposition, architecture, and division of responsibilities.
    • Qualify the assigned opportunities with end users and actively contribute to pursuit the strategy.
    • Cultivate strong customer relationships and stay ahead of emerging growth opportunities across relevant market segments
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Enablement
    • Lead or participate in customer workshops, solution co-creation sessions, and deep-dive technical discussions.
    • Conduct internal and external technical trainings to upskill sales teams, partners, and end-users on solution capabilities.
    • Support marketing, bid, and tendering teams with accurate technical inputs, diagrams, and narratives.
    • Participate and Lead New Product Improvement process, strategy and roadmaps
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and/or Communications or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in utility grid operations, Substation Automation, smart grid technologies, or related domains.
  • Strong background as a Solution Architect or Application Engineer for large-scale grid modernization projects.
  • Deep understanding of digital substations, IEC standards & protocols, transmission & Distribution automation segment & solutions, Virtualization and predictive analytics.
  • Knowledge and expertise in power management systems, load shedding / islanding schemes, distribution automation, microgrids and special protection schemes and/or remedial action schemes for grids and plants

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with GE Vernova, Grid Solutions, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions, digital twins, and edge computing is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. GIAC, ISA/IEC 62443/27001) and understanding of Security Framework and standards (NIST, NERC-CIP, NESA, IEC 62351).
  • Understand the latest solution trends for energy transition including wide area monitoring, Centralized / Virtualized Protection & Control solution, Solution Virtualization, Security landscape
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in Integrated Digital Substation, SCADA, IEC 61850, Cyber Security and software-defined tool suite to continuously improve solution offerings.
