Senior Mechanical Engineer – Pipeline (Offshore/Onshore)
Location: Offshore / Onshore, Qatar

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (Pipeline) to provide technical leadership across a range of offshore projects, including subsea pipelines, umbilicals, and riser systems. The role involves working through all phases of major oil and gas projects—from concept to commissioning—while maintaining technical quality and ensuring compliance with engineering and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Engineering & Design

• Lead technical services in offshore pipeline systems, including subsea umbilicals, power cables, and risers

• Perform mechanical and stress design: wall thickness, lateral buckling, free-span, crossing analysis, and expansion

• Develop technical scopes, interface specifications, and method statements

• Review deviations from engineering codes and ensure technical compliance

• Ensure robust technical assurance across project design and execution

Project Management & Oversight

• Serve as technical lead for pipeline and subsea systems (tie-ins, risers, spools)

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate and timely designs

• Develop and maintain schedules through FEED and EPIC phases

• Review vendor deliverables and ensure compliance with specifications

Interface & Coordination

• Interface with departments (operations, drilling, topsides, maintenance) and contractors to resolve design and interface issues

• Oversee integration between subsea and associated systems across project scopes

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Guide testing and inspection programmes to verify technical integrity prior to installation

• Ensure alignment with HSE and project quality standards

Field Support

• Provide onshore/offshore support during construction, commissioning, and startup

• Liaise with site teams to address technical queries and ensure delivery to spec

Mentoring & Development

• Provide guidance and on-the-job mentoring to junior engineers

• Promote knowledge transfer in best practices for offshore and subsea engineering

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering

• Minimum 15 years' experience post-graduation, including 10 years in offshore oil & gas pipeline design and execution

• Strong background in subsea mechanical design and stress analysis

• Familiarity with umbilicals, riser systems, and offshore installation practices

• Working knowledge of software tools such as AUTOPIPE, CAESAR II, SAGE, Orcaflex, ABAQUS (desirable)

• Strong knowledge of offshore engineering codes and industry standards

• Experience across the full project lifecycle (FEED to commissioning)

• Fluent in English; excellent coordination and communication skills

• Chartered or Professional Engineer status preferred

Senior Process Safety & Risk Engineer

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver process safety and loss prevention support across operations, shutdowns, maintenance, and brownfield scopes.

• Identify and assess process risks; develop and implement procedures to reduce hazards.

• Support the delivery of risk engineering studies and contribute to risk-based solutions in operational and project contexts.

• Implement company-wide safety objectives and risk management strategies across assigned assets.

• Review engineering and project documentation for compliance with safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree-qualified in Chemical, Mechanical, or Safety Engineering.

• At least 6 years of experience in process safety, loss prevention, or industrial safety in the oil & gas or related sectors.

• Proficient in hazard identification methods (HAZOP, What-If, etc.) and risk assessment tools.

• Familiarity with emergency response planning and safe systems of work.

• Competent with risk and consequence modelling tools (e.g., PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTie).

• Comfortable interpreting technical documents and presenting to diverse stakeholders.

• Supervise QA/QC Inspectors, Engineers, and NDT Technicians.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Professional certifications in Welding, NDT, Inspection, or Auditing.

• Minimum 6 years of QA/QC experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of design, procurement, fabrication, inspection, and installation of process equipment and piping.
• Expertise in welding and QA/QC troubleshooting.

• At least 6 to 8 years of experience as Instrument technician in Refinery, Oil & Gas or petrochemical industry with sound knowledge in measurement principles, installation, commissioning, maintenance and overhauling of various field instruments. Knowledge on hazardous area classification, smart field instruments interface with DCS and PLC is desirable.
  
  • Knowledge about International Standards and Best practices of Instrumentation in Refining, Oil& Gas and Petrochemical Industries is an added advantage.
    
    • Should be highly proficient and have excellent command in spoken/written English. Work experience in the Arabian Gulf Countries is desirable.
      
      Qualifications
      Diploma in Instrumentation/Control Systems Engineering from a well recognized College/University.

Asset Register

• Along with the focal point from the General Accounting Team for all aspects related to the maintenance and update of Fixed Asset Register.
• Along with the focal, responsible for liaising with the technical functions and the Cost Controlling teams to obtain the needed data and update the same in SAP
• Assist the focal, in ensuring that the Asset Register is designed, updated and maintained per DFA/JVA and the shareholders requirements.

Contract Reporting

Support the Contract Reporting team, as and when required/in absence of personnel:

• Discuss and correspond with the General Tax Authority alongside the Senior Tax Accountant on tax matters that affect the company.
• Evaluate and suggest improvements on processes and controls to optimize compliance efficiency.
• Prepare and ensure the relevant reports are shared with GTA, alongside the Senior Tax Accountant for Contract Tax Reporting.

Withholding Taxes and Contract Retention

• Assist the Senior Tax Accountant in analysing transactions at invoice processing level as part of P2P process of the company, to assess the WHT implication and ensure that WHT is applied on transactions that are within the scope of WHT in accordance with the local law.
• Manage the issuance of Tax certificates in relation to tax withheld, including preparing the certificates, maintaining records of certificates that had been issued and downloading the Dhareeba issued certificates.
• Analyze transactions at invoice processing level to assess the Contract Retention implications and ensure that Contract Retention is applied on transactions that are within the scope of Contract Retention Rules as per the local laws.

VAT

• Assist and take the necessary steps with Senior Tax Accountant to keep updated on VAT implementation and related topics.

Internal Control

• Responsible for the performance of controls in relevant areas (contract tax reporting, etc.) to ensure the review of these controls are done in Compliance of the Internal Control Framework
• Confirm the performance of the internal control in e-services as a back-up to the Senior Tax Accountant.

Audit

• Assist the main focal point within the General Accounting team for liaising with internal and external auditors to ensure an efficient execution of their work in coordination with Compliance team.

Period End Related Tasks

• Responsible for preparing relevant Balance sheet Reconciliations.
• Responsible for compliance with the relevant internal controls related to the above activities.

Adhoc Tasks

• Any other tasks as requested by Fixed Asset Accountant and Lead, General Accounting.

Qualification and background

- BSc Degree in Science or Commercial field or its equivalent

- Professional experience: 10-12 years post-graduate experience required in contracts within the O&G industry and 2 years’ experience as a Contract Engineer in the company

C&P competencies

- Advanced level in procurement of service

- Good recruitment skills and good knowledge of manpower market

- Good contractual knowledge and knowledge of tendering activities and procurement of services

- Good knowledge of C&P tools fundamentals (SAP, MPP, GEP)

• 4 years experience, 2 years of which must have been in the marine industry, preferably in port logistics.
• Must be competent with computers and have knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office and email Packages.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills
• Basic knowledge of cargo operations, safety and planning for dry cargoes and oil terminals including stevedore operations of a multi cargo port.
