Overview The Accountant - General Ledger is responsible for monitoring all transactions that flow into the General Ledger, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of transactions, processing non-payroll related transactions, ensuring the accuracy of prepaid and accrual balances, and managing the reconciliation process of all General Ledger accounts and deadlines.

Key Role Accountabilities

Ensure that transactions are accurately transferred to the correct accounts, reconcile items on the balance sheet, and apply adjustments as necessary, impacting the final balance sheet.

Ensure that monthly Oracle subledger transactions are accurately transferred to the General Ledger and reconciled.

Review monthly transactions processed through Oracle subledgers to ensure they are correctly posted to the appropriate accounts.

Conduct analysis of prepaid and accrual accounts and prepare adjustments as appropriate.

Review intercompany accounts and prepare journal entries as appropriate.

Participate in the review of the trial balance, ensuring revenues and expenses are properly recorded and adjusted as appropriate.

Ensure all balance sheet accounts are prepared accurately, and the balance sheet reconciliation ties to balances reflected on the trial balance.

Follow up on reconciling items identified in each balance sheet account and ensure adjustments are prepared in the following period.

Participate in monthly reporting of financial results to management by reviewing account transactions and providing details of variances on assigned accounts.

Review year-end balance sheet reconciliations to ensure no outstanding reconciling items remain.

Liaise with other departments to facilitate timely processing of transactions and ensure the General Ledger closes on set deadlines.

Participate in the monthly General Ledger close process and assist the Financial Management team with inquiries related to actual transactions processed through the General Ledger.

Participate in year-end financial requirements, including preparation of lead sheets as part of the year-end close and assist with the external audit process.

Assist the Head - General Ledger and Accounting Manager with ongoing reviews of processes and procedures within Finance.

Adhere to Sidra’s Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest policies and Sidra’s Values.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce; Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field

Experience

3+ years in a General Ledger Accounting role; General Ledger role in a large and complex organization

Certification and Licensure

Accounting Certification CMA, CIMA, ACCA or similar designations

Professional Membership

Job Specific Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability with advanced ERP systems.

Demonstrated excellent communications skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Fluency in written and spoken English.

Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP system.

About the role

As a Lead Finance Officer - Financial Accounting, you will be responsible to maintain accurate, complete, reliable accounting information of Qatar Airways complying with existing Qatar Airway Groups' accounting policies and International Financial Reporting Standard.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform activities related to financial accounting including accounting of new business transactions in compliance with IFRS and timely closing of the books of the accounts.
- Responsible for daily activities of accounting team ensuring accounting processes are aligned with QR policies, best practices and General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAPs).
- Responsible for preparations of financial statements of QR individual and QR Group companies as per IFRS.
- Perform procedures to identify accounting gaps by reviewing General Ledger schedules and reporting the gaps to the concerned teams as per defined format.
- Support other teams in identifying the correct general ledger combinations as per correct classification in the financial statements.
- Responsible for the planning and smooth completion of external audits of QR Group entities within the given timeframe.
