Structural Design Engineer

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Structures/Bridges Design Engineerto join our team!
What You'll Be Doing:
Detailed structural design of bridges, tunnels, underpasses, retaining walls, car parks, and public infrastructure-related buildings/structures.
Produce design drawings, calculations reports and specifications.
Supervise other engineers and CAD team as per project task assigned.
May supervise subordinates and provide input regarding performance. Provides technical guidance to younger engineers.
Proficient in utilizing standard engineering principles, techniques and analyses to complete conventional, moderately complex assignments within the structure discipline.
Proficient in utilizing engineering software packages associated with the structures discipline.
Track the progress of the assigned design and report to the Senior and Principal Engineers of the status and any issues that may arise during the design development.
Support other engineering activities as required by the senior and principal engineer.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Be self-motivated and require minor supervision on committed tasks.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering and 5+ years of related work experience. Work experience must be related to HANDS-ON DESIGN of structures.
Intimate knowledge of the following software: Midas Civil, CSi Bridge, SAP2000, Structural bridge Design (Autodesk), AutoCAD, Bentley RAM connections/elements, Prokon.
Intimate knowledge of following design codes: British Standards, Eurocode, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Ashghal IAN 009 and other structural design related Interim Advice Notes

As the Civil Structural Engineer , you will provide engineering services in support of the design, construction, operation, and lifecycle maintenance, contributing to major facility improvements and renovations. You will support facilities planning, programming, design, construction, and equipment installation for project facilities and infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform civil design services including preparation of civil/site work drawings, structural evaluations and designs, and water/sewer designs based on local utilities and facility load and use.
- Conduct engineering analysis and design for projects from concept to final design and construction management, adhering to applicable codes and standards.
- Review and analyze project plans and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy.
- Monitor and review host nation funded project development work for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects.
- Develop project calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications supporting project objectives.
- Review conceptual studies and sketches for project features, materials, equipment, and specifications.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS:
Professional Engineer (PE) desirable.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Part of team responsible for acting as Guardian of the Design Intent on a project designed by Buro Happold engineers in the UK.
Responsible for responding to design related questions raised by the Supervision Consultants and the Project Management Team
Key Responsibilities:
Being the Senior Structural Engineer on the project and reporting to BH Project Director.
Advise BH Project Director of any technical aspects of the Structural works that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
Respond to Requests for Information raised by the contractor in relation to the information issued for construction and ensure that information from the design engineers is incorporated.
Review Contractor's Structural shop drawings, method statements and material submittals against the contract drawings for compliance where issues associated with the design intent are being questioned.
Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the Structural works for Contractor's adherence to the design intent in drawings and specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirement of HND level education.
