Key Accountabilities:

Role Purpose: Art Education specialist develops and oversees educational programs to support exhibitions and be part of community outreach programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop educational programs
  • Support exhibitions and events, as well as educational outreach and community programs for visitors of all age groups.
  • Train and mentor educational program volunteers.
  • Assist the head in developing the budget for the department.
  • Coordinate lighting, repairs, cleaning, and set-up, volunteers and staff for education events.
  • Manage visitor flow, and safety rules and policies, and makes sure the necessary supplies are stocked for education programming.
  • Develop and maintain the calendar for events and programs.
  • Analyse and collect data to update databases, document statistics and attendance.
  • Oversee and confirm the development of printed materials to spread awareness of the educational resources of the museum: flyers, curriculum materials, advertisement, content for the web.
  • Work directly with QM Centralized services

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in art history, Studio Art, Education, or related field; Masters preferred.
  • Proven track record of educational and/ or informal learning program development and implementation in museum or related public environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills with preference to experience in public presentations and background.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English (write, read and speak).
  • Advanced skills in writing creative content, proposals, briefs and educational materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge and interest in modern and contemporary art terms and vocabulary in both English and Arabic.
  • 9 years of experience working in a museum education field and or related cultural or education sectors.

Purpose of Role

The opportunity

We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Photography Teacher (with some KS3 Art) fully versed in visual and graphic arts to allow students to explore different mediums.

The Art and Photography Department consists of 3 full-time teachers and offers programmes at all levels from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 leading to GSCE and A Level examinations. At Key Stage 3, the department offers its own teaching programme which is based on the UK curriculum tailored to the needs of an international student body. At Key Stage 4, a two-year linear GCSE course with Edexcel/Pearson in both Fine Art and Photography is offered. This is also mirrored in the 6th Form where we offer a linear two-year A Level qualifications in Fine Art and Photography.

The department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including workshops with local galleries, a weekly art club and half termly photography competitions. The department has strong commercial links with the major art institutions operating in Qatar which provides students with ample experience of art in action.
