Civil 3D BIM Modeler (Dry Utilities Services)

Qatar, Doha

Parsons is seeking a talented BIM Modeler (Dry Utilities Services) to support our team! In this role, you will assist the BIM Coordinator and Project Delivery Teams with daily BIM implementation activities.

What you'll be doing:

1. Develop 3D/2D models for drawing preparation, clash reporting, and presentation, aligned with project LOD requirements and modeling standards for Dry Utilities networks (Electrical, Street Lighting, Landscape Lighting, Telecom).
2. Extract 3D models for clash analysis, schedule review, and QS.
3. Coordinate all Model interfaces with designers and engineers of other disciplines.
4. Ensure all Models, drawings, and deliverables meet project and company quality standards and BIM requirements.
5. Prepare engineering drawings from models, including arrangements, layouts, profiles, sections, etc.
6. Develop and extract 2D geometry from models for reviews and coordination meetings.
7. Deliver Project Information Models (PIMs) according to TIDP, MIDP, and CDE protocols.
8. Prepare BIM package submissions per project standards.
9. Conduct clash detection and visual walkthroughs.
10. Prepare models and reports for constructability analysis.
11. Coordinate work with the lead technical engineer to ensure timely deliverables.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years Civil 3D experience, proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience with Dry Utilities services: electrical networks, street lighting, landscape lighting, Telecom.
• Ability to set up Civil 3D project files, strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
• Expertise in Civil 3D Families, standards, and clash detection.
• Advanced Civil 3D skills, including federated models, Civil 3D links, worksets, and shared coordinates.
• Proficiency with BIM tools: Navisworks, BIM 360, AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of BIM standards (ISO19650, PAS1192-2, BS1192).
• Understanding of BIM model requirements: LOD, naming conventions, parametric modeling.

Desired Skills:

• Proficiency in ProjectWise, Synchro, Bluebeam Studio, Revit, Sketchup, 3D Max, Dynamo.

3. Coordinate Model interfaces with other disciplines' designers and engineers.
4. Ensure all models, drawings, and deliverables meet quality and BIM standards.
5. Prepare engineering drawings from models, including layouts, profiles, and sections.
6. Develop and extract 2D geometry for reviews and coordination.
7. Deliver Project Information Models (PIMs) according to protocols.
8. Prepare BIM packages as per standards.
9. Conduct clash detection and walkthroughs.
10. Prepare models and reports for constructability reviews.
11. Coordinate with the lead engineer to ensure timely delivery.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• At least 3 years of Civil 3D experience, proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience with Dry Utilities services (Electrical, Street Lighting, Telecom).
• Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and project setup skills.

To support the BIM Coordinator and Project Delivery Team(s) in day-to-day BIM implementation activities. Develop 3D/2D dimensional models required for drawing preparation, clash reporting, and presentation aligned with the project LOD requirements and modeling standards for the different Dry Utilities networks (Electrical Networks, Street lighting, landscape lighting, and Telecom networks). Extract 3D models for clash analysis, schedule review, and QS. Ensure coordination of all Model interfaces with designers and engineers of other disciplines. Ensure all Models, drawings, and deliverables are checked to comply with project and company quality standards and BIM requirements. Prepare the engineering drawings from the model that comprises basic arrangements, layouts, profiles, sections, etc. Develop and extract 2D geometry from the models for internal reviews and coordination meetings. Ensure Project Information Models (PIM’s) are delivered in accordance with the agreed TIDP, MIDP, and CDE protocol. Prepare BIM package submissions in accordance with project standards and requirements. Conduct clash detection and visual walkthroughs. Prepare models and reports for constructability analysis. Coordinate work with the lead technical engineer, including taking responsibility for timely completion of deliverables.

1. Minimum 5-8 years Civil 3D experience with in-depth working knowledge of current Civil 3D versions.
2. Proficient in CAD design 2D/3D (AutoCAD and Civil 3D).
3. Experience in Dry utilities services is required.
4. Ability to demonstrate setting up new Civil 3D project files for the team, strong problem-solving skills, and multitasking ability.
5. Expertise in producing Civil 3D Families according to project requirements.
6. Ability to maintain standards and library of Civil 3D families/objects and also run clash detection in Civil 3D.
7. Expert knowledge of Civil 3D including use of parametric, generation of Bill of Material, assemblies, sub-assemblies, creation of families, etc.
8. Advanced Civil 3D skills are essential including creation of a federated model using Civil 3D Links, creating/working with Civil 3D Work sets and professional use of shared coordinates.
9. Proficient in a range of BIM Authoring, Scripting, Design Review, Coordination, Simulations, and Collaboration Platforms: Well versed in Civil3D, Navisworks, BIM 360, AUTO CAD is essential.
10. Knowledge of BIM codes and Standards (ISO19650, PAS1192-2, BS1192).
11. Knowledge of General BIM Model requirements (i.e., LOD, Naming convention, parametric modeling, etc.).
12. Proficiency in ProjectWise, Synchro, Bluebeam Studio, Revit, Sketchup, 3D Max, Dynamo.
13. Possess Excellent Oral Communication Skills with an ability to form effective relationships with Project Delivery Team, Client, and Contractor under time pressure.
14. Possess the ability to develop Analytical Reports and Presentations.
