Job Purpose
The Telecom Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The role supports day-to-day operations, preventive maintenance activities, and project-based telecom infrastructure works in compliance with industry and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test telecom systems including PABX, fiber optic cables, copper cables, data networks, and wireless communication systems.
- Set up and integrate voice and data communication equipment such as routers, switches, modems, and VoIP systems.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on telecom equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Diagnose and repair faults in cabling, devices, and communication systems.
- Respond promptly to service requests and resolve connectivity issues.
- Cabling & Infrastructure Work
- Pull, terminate, and label cables (fiber and copper) according to standards.
- Perform fiber splicing, testing, and OTDR analysis.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare daily/weekly work reports and update asset registers.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all telecom work adheres to Qatar’s regulatory requirements and company safety policies.
- Follow established protocols for working in confined spaces or hazardous environments when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in telecom installation and maintenance, preferably in Qatar or the GCC.
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic systems, PABX, structured cabling, and data network equipment.
- Knowledge of telecom testing tools and procedures.
- Familiarity with Qatar telecom regulations and safety standards.
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Physical ability to work at heights or in confined spaces if required.
