mselect is looking to hire a Civil Engineer for a oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar . Candidates must have a minimum of 10-12 years' experience in Structural Design & Construction. Fluency in English is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Civil/Structural Engineering activities throughout all stages of the assigned projects
- Check and review all project drawings and documents (civil, structural, specifications, calculations and proposed materials) submitted by others by the project scope, specifications, applicable standards
- Participate and aid in projects' pre-commissioning, commissioning and Hand-over activities

**Design**:
- Prepare concept, preliminary and detailed Structural Designs, using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
- Ensure that designs are cost effective by the implementation of value engineering.
- Ensure completion of detailed Structural Designs ensuring Structural Designs are completed in accordance with the latest design codes, standards and safety measures.
- Evaluate & choose appropriate construction materials such as concrete, steel, or precast, etc. to ensure that it meets the structure design.
- Review the structure design and provide technical comment to the structure design obtained from External consultant.
- Present different structure design solutions with cost comparison and possible benefits to the system
- Coordinate with other disciplines title Architecture, MEP and other special design and check the structure is fit and functional them
- Supervise the project stakeholders and guide them appropriately
- Coordinate structural design with all other disciplines (Architectural, MEP, etc.)
- Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters.
- Assist in preparing the project specifications, B.O.Q. and other tender documents.
- Provide required technical support for supervision team.
- Review shop drawings / technical material submittals submitted by the contractor.
- Develop probable construction cost estimates for assigned projects within the department.
- Handle routine contract administration.
- Attend and participate in Client meetings.
**Managerial**:
- Direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities (when needed)
- Serve as Project Engineer and as a designated Client contact on smaller, less complex projects (If needed)
- Any other duties / responsibilities as assigned time to time based on business requirements
**Skills**
- Design skills with related Structural Analysis and Design computer software, such as:
- SAP2000 - ETABS - SAFE - STADD Pro
- Prokon - Limcon - CSI Columns - IDEA StatiCa
- ROBOT (advanced)

Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and quality is acceptable.Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of assigned personnel.Makes staffing assignments and reassignments as project needs arise.Conducts performance evaluations, takes corrective action as necessary, recommends promotions and salary actions, and recommends training and development for assigned personnel.Helps to define discipline design organization and participation on a project, including scope of work, design criteria, schedules, standards, and procedures.Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.Supervises the production of project drawings and design calculations.Promotes technical excellence on the project, including furthering the Quality Improvement Process.Ensures that discipline design work is coordinated with project staff and engineers from other disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communications.Advises engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, delays in production, scope changes, or other events which could affect project completion and/or profitability.Initiates and/or reviews change order requests for additions, deletions, or changes to the original scope of work.Ensures that adequate checking is performed in accordance with discipline checking policy and procedures.Recommends design methods, equipment use, etc., for discipline standards.Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.Recommends and prepares technical papers.Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural engineering.Minimum of 20 years of related work experience in prominent consultancy firms with specific experience in structural design.Substantial experience in design of transportation structures such as bridges and underpasses.Substantial experience in design of infrastructure-related buildings such as large scale tank / pump stations and substations.Intimate knowledge of structure design principles.Ability to perform detailed technical review of engineering deliverables including structural analysis models, design calculations, engineering drawings, and specifications.Excellent report writing skills to independently produce logical, well-organized, and grammatically correct technical reports and letters directed to clients and authorities.Excellent presentation skills to convey the message clearly and succinctly.Ability to guide a large technical team to produce deliverables for multiple large projects on time and in good quality.What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
