Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to join our Design Department, holding UPDA Grade A certification with at least 10 years of professional experience. The role requires expertise in integrating environmental sustainability, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact assessments into the design process for large-scale infrastructure, commercial, and mixed-use projects. The candidate will ensure that all design solutions align with Qatar's environmental standards, international best practices, and sustainable development goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee environmental design considerations within architectural, infrastructure, and engineering projects.
- Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Management Plans (EMP), and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with Qatar environmental regulations, UPDA standards, and international frameworks (ISO 14001, LEED, GSAS, etc.).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainable and eco-friendly practices into design solutions.
- Provide technical advice on waste management, air quality, noise, water conservation, and green building strategies.
- Review and approve design documents and reports to ensure environmental compliance.
- Liaise with government authorities, clients, and contractors to secure environmental approvals and permits.
- Conduct site visits and audits to monitor adherence to environmental design specifications.
- Identify and implement value engineering solutions that enhance sustainability and reduce environmental impact.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
- Valid UPDA Grade A Certification (Qatar).
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in environmental management, preferably within design and consultancy firms.
- Proven experience in EIAs, sustainability frameworks, and environmental compliance for large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of Qatar Construction Standards (QCS), local regulations, and international environmental codes.
- Proficiency in design and analysis tools (AutoCAD, Revit, GIS, environmental modeling software).
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and stakeholder coordination skills.

The Regional Discipline Manager - Mechanical & Metallurgy Engineering manages multiple related teams in multiple office locations, sets their organizational priorities, and allocates the appropriate resources. As the Mechanical disciplines Subject Matter Expert (SME), they must be able to identify and resolve a range of complex technical, operational, and organizational problems for all of the mechanical sub-disciplines (rotating equipment, static equipment, packaged equipment). In addition to core mechanical discipline knowledge, must also be able to demonstrate a good understanding of metallurgy (materials and corrosion) engineering. The role directly impacts business results by supporting and function-specific projects, products, services, and/or technologies, and developing policies and plans.
Responsibilities

- Meet group DOE forecasts, within schedule and budget.

- Travel on a regular basis to the other office locations within Offshore Middle East and if required, also to the Chennai engineering center.

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Twenty plus (20+) years of experience and proven leadership experience in Oil and Gas with major contractors or consultants.
- Five plus (5+) years of proven management experience of leading the full mechanical discipline (Rotating, Package and Static equipments plus HVAC scope) in a similar Oil and Gas industry contractor or consultants.
- Registered Professional Engineer or member of Professional Engineering Society as applicable.
- General multi-discipline knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods, and general knowledge of the theory, content, and application of statutory codes and guidelines as applicable offshore.
- Detailed knowledge of project execution and managerial skills.
