Job Description - Senior Piping Designer (DOH01J7) :

Primary Objectives :

• Deliver piping discipline specific design and drafting services that meet Worley, the client’s and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements
• Initiate, design and drafting assignments on projects requirements on time and within budget.
• Perform discipline-specific design and drafting services such as :
• Apply recognized offshore / onshore engineering practices applicable to piping design and topside / plant layout.
• Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes to scope comply with project change management processes;
• If required, participate in studies and analyses and recommend actions;
• Prepare engineering drawings and documentation;
• Ensure all drawings and documents are checked in accordance with Worley checking procedures; and
• Participate in project reviews as required.

Job Specific Knowledge :

• Personnel shall have the specified minimum project experience in process plants, mainly Oil & Gas, and shall be knowledgeable of the applicable Engineering codes and standards.
• Read and understand technical drawings.
• Able to prepare basic piping engineering drawings.
• Able to perform detailed, advanced drafting autonomously.
• Conversant with brownfield engineering principles and ability to incorporate them into design.
• Understands Hydrocarbon processing and process diagrams (PFD’s / P&ID’s), can incorporate into 3D models.
• Selects most efficient design and layout with respect to and offshore / onshore engineering
• Competent in the use of 2D & 3D software and developing skills in design software

Industry Specific Experience :

• Minimum of 12-years project experience in Design and engineering of Piping and process equipments.
• Previous working experience on Qatar projects is preferred

IT Skills :

• 2D Software : AutoCAD, Micro-Station
• 3D Software : PDS, S3D / PDMS, E3D
• 3D Review Software : Navisworks, SPR

Description

Accountabilities :

• Stay updated with the latest marine industry practices for structural outfitting for ships and support Engineers in establishing and reviewing design engineering process phase deliverables.
• Design & develop structural details, including preparation of shop fabrication drawings, assembly plans, nesting plans, weld maps, connection details, material take-offs (MTO), etc., for various types of ships & Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs).
• Create detailed engineering drawings based on concepts developed by Structural Engineers, in accordance with class rules & yard standards.
• Conduct site surveys as per the scope of work, prepare field checks, take dimensions, and propose site modifications.
• Develop structural Material Take Offs (MTO) based on the scope of work and survey data.
• Create 3D models from approved for construction (AFC) drawings and export shop drawings for fabrication.
• Develop lifting plans for structural modules and design jigs & fixtures required for fabrication.
• Create drawings within the estimated schedule prepared by the engineer.
• Ensure drawings are checked thoroughly before issuance to prevent rework, updating the check list accordingly.
• Take ownership of drawings, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for any engineering drawing errors.
• Ensure efficient use of man-hours on drawings to prevent budget escalation.
• Avoid rework due to drawing errors to prevent cost overruns.

The Senior Pipeline Designer will be responsible for:
