As an EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring full compliance with Framework 3.0 and maintaining a safe working environment at customer project sites. Your responsibilities will center around implementing EH&S programs , promoting proactive risk management practices, and ensuring alignment with local and international safety standards.

• Ensure full adherence to Framework 3.0 requirements across project sites

• Foster a culture of safety , actively supporting the development and execution of EH&S programs focused on incident prevention, contractor safety, electrical safety, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures

• Lead by example in upholding GE’s EHS Policy , ensuring compliance with all site-specific EHS protocols

• Collaborate closely with the projects and services teams to meet annual Grid Automation EHS KPIs , engaging in activities such as:

  • Conducting EHS audits

  • Developing EHS plans and risk assessments

  • Delivering employee training on safety procedures

  • Investigating and analyzing incidents/accidents

  • Communicating lessons learned and regular updates

• Drive compliance with the EHS Risk Portfolio Program

• Assist the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) team in assessing EHS risks and recommending mitigation strategies during the sales and tendering phase

• Organize and lead EHS training sessions , including inductions, job-specific modules, safety stand-downs, and awareness campaigns

• Coordinate contractor onboarding with the sourcing and project teams

• Contribute to monthly EHS reporting for the Gulf region

• Ensure all sites meet regulatory compliance by managing permits, reporting obligations, and up-to-date policies

• Address and close out ATS findings, employee safety concerns, and compliance tasks via Gensuite and other platforms

• Oversee the implementation or improvement of environmental programs and procedures to meet compliance requirements

• Provide expert support and guidance to maintain site adherence to local, regional, and international environmental regulations

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or high school diploma/GED with equivalent experience

• Minimum of 8 years’ EHS experience in project execution or construction environments

• Certification in internationally or locally recognized EHS standards (e.g., NEBOSH IGC or ICC )

• In-depth knowledge of local health and safety legislation

• Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office , web-based tools , and Smartsheet

• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification programs

• Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written)

• Willingness and ability to travel 50–60% of the time , with assignments primarily in Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq

Preferred:

• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities

• Experience leading medium-scope initiatives with measurable impact

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Solid understanding of local regulations and the ability to engage with regulatory bodies effectively

The Field Health and Safety Manager will oversee the review, development, and implementation of the Health and Safety management systems, ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, and contractors in accordance with current Health and Safety policies and regional legislation.

Where do we need your support?

• Review and develop all aspects of the company Health and Safety Policy and activity and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the company sites.
• Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new, and upcoming Health and Safety legislation and ensure that it has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance.
• Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a program of continuous improvement in the management of Health and Safety within their areas of responsibility, which includes conducting regular audits.
• Ensure that rigorous risk assessment and accident management systems are in place to enable staff to undertake risk assessment processes to identify hazards and to ensure that appropriate control measures are in place.
• Maintain a central record of all risk assessments and monitor recording within. Approve risk assessments for workplace areas.
• Discuss areas for improvement with relevant staff and/or external bodies and agree appropriate corrective action.
• Provide staff with comprehensive and relevant information and training on the Health and Safety systems and procedures, including advising on equipment purchase and workplace practices.
• Maintain the database for accident and near-miss and prepare reports for Health and Safety statistics
• Design and deliver training sessions on key areas of activity in relation to Health and Safety and support the delivery of other training programs, including new staff induction and Team Leader training.
• Ensure a safe working environment without risk to health across the installation sites throughout GCC countries and sites maintained by the staff thereafter.

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• H&S certification (NEBOSH & IOSH)
• Quality Management Systems and LEED experience is a strong advantage.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Health and Safety Management
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Proficiency in Arabic, other Asian and European languages are an advantage

The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet regulatory standards and ensure the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors within the Department / organization. The role involves regular risk assessments, training, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.

Key Accountabilities

• Health & Safety Strategy & Policy Development Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with local, national, and industry-specific health and safety regulations. Monitor changes in safety regulations and ensure that the company remains compliant.
• Risk Assessment & Control Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and determine appropriate measures. Implement and monitor safety control systems to mitigate risk. Review workplace layouts, processes, and equipment to ensure safety compliance.
• Incident Investigation & Reporting Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine causes and implement corrective actions. Prepare detailed reports and analyses on incidents and health and safety metrics. Ensure that all required documentation, including incident reports and safety checklists, is completed and maintained.
• Training & Awareness Design and deliver training programs to ensure all employees understand safety protocols. Ensure that all staff are properly trained in the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures. Conduct health and safety inductions for new employees and contractors.

Other Accountabilities

• Safety Inspections & Audits Perform regular safety inspections and audits to identify risks, ensure compliance, and promote a culture of safety. Ensure that all safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits, are regularly inspected and maintained. Conduct workplace audits to assess compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Emergency Preparedness Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire drills and evacuation procedures. Ensure that the company is prepared to respond effectively in the event of a crisis or disaster. Coordinate with external emergency services when necessary.

Education

• Bachelor degree or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent

Lead, advise, support and promote Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management, alongside with providing awareness, measuring and ensuring compliance with internal/ external policies and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe workplace with targeting 0% accident in the Plant and connected accommodations and Offices.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in related Engineering field.

• Minimum 15 years experiences in the Health, Safety and Environment field with heavy industry (oil & gas, steel, cement, ready mix) or construction field experience and 5 years in the Managerial level.

• In depth knowledge of IOSH, NEBOSH, OSHA international HSE codes and standards.

• Professional HSE certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH and/or accreditations from local and internationally recognized Health and Safety Standards organizations.

• Audit qualification background and inspection experience with ISO/IOHS/NEBOSH Standards.

• Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills to lead the HSE team and to work in cooperation with the related technical and non-technical Departments.

• Excellent training skills to deliver safety training and orientation for the new and the existing staff.

• IOSH and/or accredited occupational associations membership would be asset.
