Role Description

Urgent hiring with immediate joining -
This is a full-time on-office role for an Electrical Design Engineer located in Doha, Qatar. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for performing detailed electrical design work for various projects, including power distribution and electrical engineering tasks. Daily tasks will include developing electrical schematics, layouts, and specifications, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, ensuring compliance with the relevant codes and standards, and supporting the construction management and supervision team.

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and reviewing electrical system designs for building and infrastructure projects. The role includes preparing detailed design drawings, performing load calculations, selecting equipment, and ensuring compliance with international and local authority standards. The candidate should have strong design expertise in LV/MV systems, lighting, power distribution, and utilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, earthing, and low-current systems.
• Prepare design drawings, load schedules, and single-line diagrams using AutoCAD or Revit.
• Conduct electrical load calculations and sizing of transformers, cables, breakers, and other components.
• Review and coordinate designs with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural, civil, utilities).
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, authority standards (Kahramaa, Ashghal, etc.), and international codes (IEC, NEC, BS).
• Support in preparation of tender documents, technical specifications, and BOQs.
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and technical workshops.
• Provide technical support during design submissions and authority approvals.
• Maintain proper design documentation and ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design within consultancy/design environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of LV/MV systems, street lighting, and electrical utilities.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (Electrical), and design software such as ETAP or Dialux.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure team adherence to accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory standards, and client specifications.

• Perform and review equipment sizing calculations (Capacitors, transformers, DG sets, UPS System, lighting (DIALux), earthing and lightning protection.
• Review lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection layouts, and distribution board schedules.
• Preparing Material Take Off
• Preparing Specifications, datasheets and Material requisition for all the Electrical Equipment
• Provide technical evaluations of bidder proposals, including layouts, site preparations, and compliance with project specifications.
• Lead and support a team of designers to produce, review, and finalize drawings and schedules.
• Maintain strong knowledge of codes, standards, and both onshore/offshore electrical design practices for oil and gas projects.

Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of Extensive experience in Electrical design and engineering for oil & gas and large industrial onshore/offshore projects.
• Experience with brownfield and asset services projects/contracts.
• Proficiency in performing design calculations
• Previous Qatar project exposure with knowledge of Shell DEP, QatarEnergy and other local regulations are highly desirable.
