Responsibilities
Your Commitment
As a faculty member, you will report to the Head of the Department and be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating a broad range of courses within Chemical Engineering and related diploma, degree, and graduate programs. You will also evaluate student progress and manage the learning environment resources. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with industry and other educational institutions, participate in industry advisory committees, and coordinate, manage, and supervise final year/capstone projects within the specified program area.
You will keep course portfolio documents required for program review and accreditation processes and engage in instructional and new program development. The College encourages applications from research-active faculty members who will also enhance applied research and innovation.

For Associate Professor and Assistant Professor
- A PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field, specifically Process Safety, Process Control, Plant Operation, Plant Trouble Shooting and Transport Phenomenon, f rom an internationally recognized and accredited institution.
- A track record of academic excellence from internationally recognized and accredited institutions.
- A minimum of five (5) years of academic experience after the PhD.
- A minimum of three (3) years of industrial experience related to the field of study.
- Competency in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Apply various teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences, including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.
- Ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.
- Demonstrate academic and information literacy skills.

Sustaining Engineering is a business critical team that continuously improves various open source software by resolving software defects reported by customers. Software stack includes everything from the kernel all the way up to the user space applications and IaaS platforms. Our customers build large-scale mission critical infrastructure and application solutions on Ubuntu and open source from Canonical. This team is well staffed with experts in every time zone and, while the work can be challenging sometimes, the team is resourced to ensure a good work-life balance and ongoing development of each team member.
As an engineering manager in the Sustaining Engineering team, your primary responsibility is to the people you support: ensuring that they are growing as engineers, making valuable contributions, and generally having a great experience at Canonical. - You have 3+ years of experience in leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers. Experience managing distributed teams is a plus.

- You have a Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree
- You have strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Supervisor to join our team and ensure our facilities remain safe, fully functional, and well-maintained at all times. The Engineering Supervisor assists in the daily supervision of the Engineering Department and is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the hotel s buildings, systems, and equipment. Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department at Raffles & Fairmont Doha. This role ensures that all hotel facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, are properly maintained and meet safety, quality, and service standards. The Engineering Manager also focuses on energy conservation and sustainability initiatives, ensuring smooth operations and high levels of guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight:
- Support the Chief Engineer in managing the daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring that all systems and facilities are running efficiently and effectively.
- Monitor and maintain the functionality of critical hotel systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and fire safety systems.
- Implement preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment and facilities, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth operation.
- Respond quickly to guest and operational requests, ensuring prompt and professional handling of all maintenance issues.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and mentor engineering staff, including mechanics, electricians, and technicians, ensuring high performance and technical competency.
- Assign daily tasks to the engineering team and ensure proper follow-up and task completion.
- Foster a collaborative working environment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement within the department.

- Ensure that regular inspections are performed on equipment and hotel facilities to identify and resolve any potential issues before they impact operations.

- Support the development and implementation of energy conservation and sustainability initiatives to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.

- Health, Safety, and Compliance:

- Work closely with housekeeping, food & beverage, and front office departments to ensure that guest areas and back-of-house facilities are well maintained and operational.
- Ensure clear communication between the engineering department and other teams, providing updates on projects, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
- Experience in energy management, sustainability initiatives, and cost control is preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
