Job title: Environmental Site Surveillance Specialist
Location: Qatar - Doha

Job PurposeThe prime role and function is responsible for conducting regular site surveillances, inspections, and audits within HIA and DIA premises to ensure site conditions meeting the requirements of EMS, CTO and other obligation requirements. The inspection is based on MATAR EMS and QR group standards and guidelines, and other applicable state environmental laws and regulations. The role also supporting general environmental monitoring activities, identifying site environmental issues, and recommending corrective actions to resolve the issues.
Accountabilities- Conduct routine environmental surveillance, inspections, and audits: Perform regular site surveillances and inspections across all airport facilities to identify environmental risks and issues impacting EMS and CTO requirements.
- Conduct site surveillance and inspections for potential and existing contaminated areas across the airport campus.
- Perform regular site surveillances, inspections, investigations, and audits for areas and facilities under the scope of EMS and CTO, assessing required pollution controls to remediate or mitigate issues.
- Conduct audits of various facilities and areas to ensure strict adherence to legal and regulatory environmental standards.
- Conduct regular general environmental monitoring across the campus, including air quality, emissions, noise, groundwater, spills, and wastewater.
- Conduct daily checks, monitoring, and data collection, coordinating with data sources for the organization and submission of data, reports, and documentation to FRC, Oracle system, SharePoint, and MECC portals.
- Conduct site inspections and checks for water quality testing and discharges.
- Monitor, track, and update activities in SharePoint, Oracle, and other company systems related to environmental monitoring regimes (e.g., groundwater, noise, air quality).
- Prepare monthly environmental monitoring reports by collecting and validating data from all sources for management review and other submissions.
- Conduct inspections to monitor hazardous materials handling, transport, storage, and disposal, including hazardous waste storage, handling, and disposal (in coordination with the waste team).
- Prepare detailed reports on site surveillances, inspections, and audit findings.
- Prepare environmental reports (monthly, quarterly, and as required) in the form of reports and presentation slides for management's review and submission to regulatory bodies.
- Prepare environmental incident/accident reports by investigating root causes and providing recommendations for management review.
- Maintain up-to-date records of EMS and CTO audits, inspections, and surveillance activities.
- Provide technical support for EMS and CTO requirements in terms of site inspection, audit, and documentation (e.g., updating registers, coordination and follow-ups with departments, subsidiaries, and other relevant stakeholders, database, reporting, and presentations).
- Review and implement all EMS SOPs, procedures, and processes to ensure environmental objectives are met and risks are brought to an acceptable level.
- Maintain environmental aspects and risks registers, including risks and opportunities, by regularly reviewing the document to ensure it remains updated.
- Conduct and/or participate in incident investigations involving environmental impacts and prepare post-incident reports (e.g., spills, releases of gases and liquid materials).
- Coordinate and collaborate with the environmental compliance team for any environmental issues arising on-site to assess and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
- Assist in implementing new environmental programs and initiatives at the airport.
- Collaborate with airport stakeholders and conduct environmental campaigns to enhance environmental awareness and engagement.
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 4 years of job-related experience
- ISO 14001 Experience
- Prior experience and certification in working with Hazardous Material
- Knowledge of technologies and techniques on environmental spills, assessment of contaminated sites and spill remediation.
- Valid Car Driving License is a must.
- ISO 14001 Auditor/Implementer experience
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Equivalent
- Employment certificate showing similar role in the past or recently
- Certifications related to spill prevention and response: Training and certifications in areas like SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure)
- Environmental Management Certificate – NEBOSH
- Strong knowledge and background of environmental laws, regulations, and operational standards.
- Experience in drafting reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance guidelines.
- Competence in maintaining detailed and organized inspection and compliance records.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficient in conducting environmental inspections and audits
- Valid Driving License
- Preferred both English and Arabic speaking language
