Learn more about our career opportunities at: is seeking a proactive and qualified Environmental & Sustainability Engineer to join its project supervision team on a Roads and Infrastructure Project. The role will focus on ensuring environmental compliance, implementing sustainability measures, and supporting the contractor’s environmental management plans in alignment with Ashghal's environmental guidelines, Qatar Construction Standards (QCS), and applicable local authority requirements.

The candidate should bring a minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in infrastructure projects with a focus on environmental management and sustainability practices in Qatar.

Responsibilities:

Monitor the contractor’s implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and ensure compliance with all environmental permits and conditions. Support the integration of sustainability best practices, including material reuse, energy-efficient operations, and low-impact construction methods. Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and site assessments to ensure mitigation measures are in place (e.g., dust suppression, noise control, waste segregation). Prepare and submit regular environmental and sustainability compliance reports as per Ashghal’s KPIs and reporting framework. Review and approve contractor submissions related to environmental protection, spill prevention, erosion control, and landscape management. Liaise with MME, Ashghal's Environmental Department, and other local authorities for necessary approvals, inspections, and updates. Promote awareness among site staff and subcontractors regarding environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and resource optimization. Investigate environmental incidents, non-conformities, and complaints; develop and track corrective actions. Ensure alignment of project activities with Ashghal’s Corporate Sustainability Framework and ISO 14001 principles. Support handover documentation regarding environmental compliance and sustainability contributions. In depth knowledge about GORD/GSAS certification system. Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or Civil/mechanical Engineering (with specialization). Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 5 years in infrastructure/construction projects in an environmental role. GORD/GSAS certified profession + ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, LEED GA/AP or equivalent (preferred). Minium five years’ experience in Qatar. GCC infrastructure projects. Excellent command of English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Ashghal standards, road material specs, QA/QC processes, and stakeholder coordination. Familiar with document management systems (Ashghal DCS), MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software. Key Competencies:

Strong understanding of environmental legislation in Qatar and GCC. Practical knowledge of sustainability frameworks (LEED, GSAS, etc.). Job Purpose

Accountabilities

• Perform regular site surveillances and inspections across all airport facilities to identify environmental risks and issues impacting EMS and CTO requirements.

• Perform regular site surveillances, inspections, investigations, and audits for areas and facilities under the scope of EMS and CTO, assessing required pollution controls to remediate or mitigate issues.

• Conduct daily checks, monitoring, and data collection, coordinating with data sources for the organization and submission of data, reports, and documentation to FRC, Oracle system, SharePoint, and MECC portals.
• Conduct site inspections and checks for water quality testing and discharges.
• Monitor, track, and update activities in SharePoint, Oracle, and other company systems related to environmental monitoring regimes (e.g., groundwater, noise, air quality).
• Prepare monthly environmental monitoring reports by collecting and validating data from all sources for management review and other submissions.

• Conduct inspections to monitor hazardous materials handling, transport, storage, and disposal, including hazardous waste storage, handling, and disposal (in coordination with the waste team).

• Prepare environmental reports (monthly, quarterly, and as required) in the form of reports and presentation slides for management's review and submission to regulatory bodies.

• Maintain up-to-date records of EMS and CTO audits, inspections, and surveillance activities.
• Provide technical support for EMS and CTO requirements in terms of site inspection, audit, and documentation (e.g., updating registers, coordination and follow-ups with departments, subsidiaries, and other relevant stakeholders, database, reporting, and presentations).

• Review and implement all EMS SOPs, procedures, and processes to ensure environmental objectives are met and risks are brought to an acceptable level.
• Maintain environmental aspects and risks registers, including risks and opportunities, by regularly reviewing the document to ensure it remains updated.
• Conduct and/or participate in incident investigations involving environmental impacts and prepare post-incident reports (e.g., spills, releases of gases and liquid materials).
• Coordinate and collaborate with the environmental compliance team for any environmental issues arising on-site to assess and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
• Assist in implementing new environmental programs and initiatives at the airport.
• Collaborate with airport stakeholders and conduct environmental campaigns to enhance environmental awareness and engagement.
