The Senior Food Safety and Hygiene Officer is responsible for managing food safety regulations by conducting compliance audits, inspections, investigations, and verification reviews of food businesses. The role closely collaborates with department managers to ensure ongoing compliance, elevate standards, and provide appropriate training to personnel.
Job Responsibilities 1- Conduct and ensure completion of food supplier audits (against the HACCP systems implemented), identify corrective actions, escalate major concerns, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Support in fulfilling Authority objectives in accordance with the Branch work plan and ensure effective and efficient food safety services.
- Facilitate dissemination of operational information and data to inform operational objectives.
- Provide technical advice on compliance issues.
- Undertake functions and activities in accordance with policies and procedures to meet Authority objectives.
- Conduct investigations and initiate enforcement actions promptly to comply with Food Authority policies.
- Sourcing and evaluating suppliers regularly to ensure hygiene standards.
- Coordinate ongoing development of the department’s food safety program and compliance, including internal audits.
- Nurture good working relationships within and across departments involved in food safety.
- Maintain all registers, records, and documentation properly.
- Work closely with other safety roles within the company, assisting as required, and develop supportive relationships.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations, standards, and guidelines such as HACCP, FSMA, and ISO 22000.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, identify hazards, and implement control measures.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP skills.
- Knowledge of food hygiene principles, practices, and procedures.
- Skill in conducting food safety audits and inspections, evaluating compliance, and recommending corrective actions.
- Experience in training and guiding food handlers, staff, and management on food safety practices.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience, with at least 3 years relevant experience; 2 years GCC experience is a plus.
