About the role

In this role you will lead the Health and Safety Team,
- Support management and all levels of staff with advice and guidance on matters relating to OHS and work to provide solutions and resolve problems.
- Develop and implement Health and Safety best practices, ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.
- Work closely with Qatar Airways Corporate Safety to ensure policies and directives are followed.

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

- Reviewing existing policies and procedures
- Coordinating and conducting OHS audits across the department.
- Investigating or, where appropriate, assisting others to investigate incidents and take necessary steps to prevent recurrence, including keeping written records of the investigation and action taken.
- Lead and effectively manage the OHS team and ensure all staff are fully trained and developed to deliver a service that is fit for purpose.

About you
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum of 8 years of job-related experience.
- Diploma or Certificate in Health and Safety Management - NEBOSH
- Management experience in an Aircraft Manufacturing/ Maintenance environment - preferred.
- Demonstrable experience in an engineering environment
- Health & Safety instructor or training experience
- Experience in managing fire life safety and fire prevention.
- Certified Lead Auditor in ISO 45001.
- Managing a Occupational Health and Safety team within the Technical Group

About the role:
Responsible to Support the business in complying with QR and QAS Safety policies: in achieving the health & safety objectives defined; and in obtaining or maintaining Safety certifications.

To promote a safety culture within the company and to play an active role in reducing hazards and preventing accidents, by means of communication, monitoring, reporting and analyzing.

Assists the Safety Manger in coordinating the work of a team of Safety Officers and act as an ambassador to safe practices.
- Ensure implementation of QAS Cargo Safety Manual and QR OHS & Fire Manual standards into everyday operations, along with regulatory and Aviation Health and Safety requirements.
- Conduct internal Safety Audits within the QAS Cargo operations to identify potential hazards within the workplace and make recommendations for controls to the appropriate department for implementation.
- Plan, coordinate and maintain a proactive Risk Assessment schedule with the safety officers and relevant departments.
- Provide ideas and suggestions in developing and communicating the yearly Health, Safety and Wellness promotions/communications.
- Coordinate with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure a consistent level of compliance with the requirements during day to day operations and support the company during internal and external audits.
- Coordinate the team of safety officers by providing direction and hands on approach to oversight of operational activities.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure robustness of emergency response plans, high quality accident investigation reports, Risk assessments and operational procedures in line with IATA, IGOM and best industry practices.
- Contribute to continued development and achieving Safety Performance Indicators (SPI) by identifying and mitigating potential risk and highlighting areas for improvement based on trend analysis.

**Responsibilities**:
We envisage success in this role to include;
- Developing guidelines in liaison with Head of Health and Environment pertaining to occupational health for all employees and premises
- Ensuring implementation of health guidelines and procedures in order to ensure the prevention of any health hazard in client premises and amongst employees
- Conducting periodic inspections to assess the work environment for any potential health and safety problems and takes necessary corrective action for the same
- Ensuring necessary steps are taken to maintain the health standards at client facilities in line with established international health and safety standards
- Developing and implementing health programs in order to foster a culture of healthy working environment at all client facilities and amongst all employees
- Liaising with directorates, departments, and sections to address any concerns or situations of potential health hazard
- Conducting frequent inspections of work environment involving handling of hazardous chemicals and materials to ensure strict safety precautions are practiced as required by international and Kahramaa safety guidelines
- Ensuring provision of appropriate measures for handling emergency situations involving hazardous chemicals/ materials
- Conducting periodic assessments and inspections to analyse the level of pollutants in the work environment and ensures appropriate measures are taken to minimize them as per guidelines
- Ensuring adequate training and awareness sessions are conducted to educate employees about disease prevention and maintenance of healthy working conditions

Qualifications:
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum 10 years of experience in Occupational Health. A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Medicine or Biomedical Sciences with knowledge of national & international health & safety standards, and NEBOSH Diploma.

Should be either CMIOSH (Chartered Member) or GradIOSH (Graduate Member) or Certified Environmental, Safety & Health Trainer (CET) by Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).

Also, should have following certification trainings.
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Basic Fire Fighting Certificate from recognized institute
