Wood is actively seeking Expressions of Interest for the role of Instrument & Control Engineer to support future growth in our expanding business.

The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for executing project work according to the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within man-hour, cost, and schedule targets.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to Wood and Client HSE and Quality procedures, maintaining high safety standards
• Produce and review C&I deliverables with guidance, ensuring accuracy and scope alignment, including design basis, instrument schedules, sizing calculations, datasheets, Control & Shutdown System Philosophies, etc.
• Develop enquiry packages: specifications, datasheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations
• Develop specifications and prepare material requisitions for control systems and instruments
• Support development of P&IDs and Cause & Effects with instrumentation and control input
• Review vendor quotations, evaluate technically, and recommend suitable vendors; approve order variations
• Participate in coordination and engineering review meetings with vendors
• Prepare material take-offs for I&C discipline
• Manage challenging I&C engineering tasks, delivering scope for large or complex projects
• Participate in project reviews, design audits, and workshops
• Conduct site surveys and develop reports for brownfield projects
• Assess progress reports, input to progress systems, and suggest corrective actions
• Stay updated with latest technical developments in your field

QUALIFICATIONS

• Engineering Degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or similar, with at least 7 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Ensures Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work
• Produces and reviews C&I deliverables with guidance from the Lead Engineer, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue. Such deliverables including but not limited to the following:
• The design basis, instrument schedules/index, sizing calculations and instrument datasheets (control valve, relief valves, flow / pressure / level instruments, cable, etc), Control & Shutdown System Philosophies, etc.
• Preparation and development of enquiry packages including Specifications, Datasheets, Request for Quotation and Technical Bid Evaluation.
• Develop specification and prepare material requisitions for control systems, instruments, control valves and all other instruments
• Supports development and provides instrumentation and control input for P&IDs and Cause & Effects
• Review Vendors’ quotations prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation. Technically approve Order Variation Summaries
• Participate in coordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required
• Prepares and develops material take off for the I&C discipline
• Takes responsibility for challenging I&C engineering tasks and capable of delivering scope for an area on large and/or complex projects
• Participates in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required
• Completion of site surveys and data gathering for brownfield scope of work, taking responsibility for development of the site survey report
• Assess progress and procedure associated reports and input to the progress measurement system. Derive and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiency and to take any resulting agreed actions

Experience

• Engineering Degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or similar with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
• Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, Grade A or B Category as a mandatory requirement

• Experience and knowledge of Telecoms engineering and design is desirable, including an awareness of relevant international design codes and standards such as IA/TIA and ETSI

• Strong understanding of plant design and field instrumentation / control room layout

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The

Project Controls Engineer

(PCE) is responsible for

scheduling

and

cost control

of the project. The PCE shall be assigned to the Project from the LNTP-Design to Final Acceptance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the maintenance of the required schedules and related documents in compliance with client provisions or as requested by the Project Director/COR (this includes maintaining the original cost-loaded base line for the duration of the project) Be considered part of the Contractor’s key management personnel. Final approval of the Scheduler/PCE, based on his, or her, curriculum vitae, is required by the USG. Work in close cooperation with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Designer, subcontractors, suppliers, and OBO’s management scheduling support staff relative to the development and implementation of the PES Shall meet with the OBO PCE scheduler at the project site after coordinated schedule development to refine and finalize the BPES for presentation to the OBO and contractor management teams. Responsible for coordinating with procurement team to make sure the procurement of all material is in line with the schedule Responsible with the team for the overall cost control tracking of the project (time, labor, material, equipment, etc.) Work with a third-party TIA/Controls expert in support of potential REAs and claims, as necessary. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must be authorized to work in the United States Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance Experience as a construction project scheduler using the Contractor’s current scheduling software (Primavera) on at least two previous projects of comparable scope of work and of a value not less than half of this project’s value. Environmental Demands:

Work involves a 60-hour workweek, 6 days a week/ 10 hours per day. Flexibility with hours/days is required. Responsibilities

Ensures Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work Produces and reviews C&I deliverables with guidance from the Lead Engineer, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue. Such deliverables including but not limited to the following: The design basis, instrument schedules/index, sizing calculations and instrument datasheets (control valve, relief valves, flow / pressure / level instruments, cable, etc), Control & Shutdown System Philosophies, etc. Preparation and development of enquiry packages including Specifications, Datasheets, Request for Quotation and Technical Bid Evaluation. Develop specification and prepare material requisitions for control systems, instruments, control valves and all other instruments Supports development and provides instrumentation and control input for P&IDs and Cause & Effects Review Vendors’ quotations prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation. Technically approve Order Variation Summaries Participate in coordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required Prepares and develops material take off for the I&C discipline Takes responsibility for challenging I&C engineering tasks and capable of delivering scope for an area on large and/or complex projects Participates in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required Completion of site surveys and data gathering for brownfield scope of work, taking responsibility for development of the site survey report Assess progress and procedure associated reports and input to the progress measurement system. Experience
