- Perform a range of standard medical laboratory tests, plan the maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment, and coordinate activities related to calibration of technical equipment.
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
- Deals with standard medical laboratory tests, routine clinical cases, and problems that arise daily to uncover diseases.
- Operate complex electronic analytical equipment, computers, and precision instruments.
- Use technical judgment to ensure test validity including recollection and retesting samples that may be followed or contaminated.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Plan day-to-day activities of the laboratory services, including program management, resources management, time allocation and scheduling, with the aim of reducing waste and optimizing the resources.
- Develop auditable and traceable quality standards and programs for laboratory operations.
- Ensure compliance of laboratory methodologies, protocols, and techniques with the developed quality standards in line with accredited standards, safety, and environmental regulations, and other applicable and standards.
- Perform quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and standard solutions.
- Collect and process samples for a variety of routine clinical laboratory tests.
- Conduct analyses of various specimens collected from patients in compliance with the requirements of the quality system for the test being performed.
- Validate, calculate, and tabulate test results to ensure testing meets quality control requirements.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, following established procedures.
- Order stock and control inventory to ensure adequate supply of sampling and analysing materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology.
- Valid primary license from the country of origin & should be eligible for license from Licensing authority in the State of Qatar to practice the profession.
Knowledge and/or Experience
- 4 years' experience in medical laboratory work.
- Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology used in the clinical laboratory.
