LOSS PREVENTION LEAD - QATAR

We are working with our client based in Qatar to source a LOSS PREVENTION LEAD. This is a residential contract based in Qatar.

1. Leads and provides the technical safety engineering inputs for the development of basic engineering and detail design phases. Reviews key deliverables such as technical safety design basis, loss prevention philosophies, technical safety reports, Quantitative Risk Assessments, Fire and Explosion Risk Analyses, and Fire water network design analyses.
2. Maintains effective working relationships with contractors and stakeholders (e.g., Operations and SHEQ) to ensure alignment on the overall delivery of the Loss Prevention scope according to project requirements and plans.
3. Performs risk-based evaluation of complex technical issues that may have significant commercial impacts on project execution.
4. Ensures constructive and positive relationships with EPC contractors to deliver the Technical Safety / Loss Prevention scope as planned and in accordance with project requirements.
5. Facilitates risk assessment sessions involving various stakeholders.
6. Possesses expert knowledge of technical safety engineering methodologies, software systems, and design practices related to Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Plant Startup.

1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
2. Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in brownfield modifications to oil and gas or similar facilities, including offshore projects.
3. Thorough knowledge of process safety design and analysis fundamentals.
4. Experience participating in HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL Rating workshops.

Knowledge and / or Experience

• At least eight years of engineering experience with brownfield modifications in the oil and gas sector, including offshore projects.
• Thorough knowledge of process safety design and analysis fundamentals.
• Experience participating in HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL Rating workshops.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in professional and technical computer software.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to develop deliverables, ensuring input is incorporated.
2. Ensure quality assurance and timely production of Loss Prevention / Process Safety engineering deliverables per project schedule.
3. Ensure compliance with relevant specifications, regulations, codes, and standards.
4. Participate in and facilitate safety studies and workshops (e.g., HAZOP, HAZID, SIL), leading and driving safety assessments and reports.
5. Manage and advise contractors on Loss Prevention / Process Safety compliance, staffing, and claims resolution.
6. Provide technical safety advice and support at fabrication and construction sites.
7. Represent the Safety and Loss Prevention Engineering discipline in meetings, audits, and reviews, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and promptly.
8. Act as the package responsible engineer for safety, life-saving, and firefighting scopes.
9. Oversee the timely delivery of safety-related technical documentation for procurement and contracts.
10. Deliver the Design Safety Case fulfilling project and company requirements.
