Charterhouse is working with a globally recognised engineering firm that specialise in various sectors such as rail and transportation, machinery, aerospace and defence and energy. Our client is looking to hire an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee their portfolio of engineering services, which have most recently been contracted to the delivery of a multi-billion-dollar rapid transit project.

**About the role**
This role will provide technical and engineering support to the system maintenance organisation, reporting directly to the Maintenance Director Office. Ultimately accountable for the safety provisions, effective and efficient engineering support services to the Doha Metro operations.
In conjunction, this senior position will perform day to day management on the engineering department and continuously improve safety and operational efficiency of the system maintenance organisation. Additionally, the role will implement and manage effective management systems to ensure all engineering support services provided by the engineering department are performed in a professional and in a safe manner.

The Senior Engineering Manager will propose changes to the maintenance documents to optimize its activities during the maintenance execution on the Doha Metro. In conjunction, you will define and manage obsolescence management whilst planning for the components at risk, during the contract period.

This role will establish and manage configuration management systems for the maintenance organisation; implementing ISO 22001 and asset management systems, making improvements and recommendations to mitigate any recurring failures.

Objective/ Purpose of the role

Repairs/installs and maintains Aerial Work Platform equipment in a safe and professional manner, including DC electrical systems, hydraulic systems, & associated equipment, as well as mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, and sub-assemblies, by performing the duties listed below:

The senior technician serves as an advanced level worker performing the most complex assignments, and also provides technical assistance in diagnosis and repair of Aerial work platforms.

This position requires an employee to possess a high degree of independent judgement in making decisions without availability of supervision, also schedules work, monitors quality, efficient and cost effective approach in doing task and valued customer relations.

Organisational Structure

Reports to Depot Manager – Qatar

Representative Duties
  • Performs a variety of duties related to the maintenance and repair of AWP’s.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of AWP’s in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations and Manlift service schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of written records and reports, reads and interprets plans and specifications.
  • Responds to customer inquiries in a courteous manner, provides information within the areas of assignment.
  • Work safely and adhere to safe work practices and procedures in accordance with the TMW (The Manlift Way).
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive customer relations through professional interactions with customers.
  • Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of Aerial Work Platforms and associated equipment, which utilise mechanical, diesel, electrical and electronic systems.
  • Installs and repairs mechanical, hydraulic or electrical parts such as hydraulic cylinders, engine parts, switches, controllers and associated components.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Lubricates and cleans parts
  • Starts / operates devices to test their performance
  • Sets up and operates repair equipment and repair parts according to instruction & procedure
  • Diagnose, and carry out preventive maintenance according to manufacturer's, and Manlift requirements, as well as faultfinding, troubleshooting, and attending breakdowns on all equipment in rental and sales fleet.
  • Reads, follows, understands oral and written instructions.
  • Issue “Field Service reports and “service work orders” on maintenance tasks and faults, and the parts, labor and time taken to complete the task.
  • Operates equipment, demonstrates and familiarizes customers when necessary.
  • Inspects used parts to determine imperfections or changes in dimensional requirements
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments & repairs or replaces defective parts & components
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices & equipment.
  • Reads, follows, understands and communicates schematic drawings, service and parts manuals.

  • Understand and prioritize work plans to complete assignments with quality work and minimum supervision.
  • Provides instructions and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to perform equipment repairs, inspection and preventive maintenance.
  • Implement, recognise and propose tools necessary to complete the task in safe, efficient and shortest possible time.
  • Plan, schedule preventive and routine maintenance according to manufacture and Manlift requirements, as well as fault finding, troubleshooting, diagnostics and associated breakdowns on all Manlift equipment
  • Understand and prioritize work plans to complete assignments with quality work, cost effective, responding to emergency situations in an efficient and timely manner to effect immediate repairs.
  • Analyze existing work procedures and develop a plan to improve ways to provide efficient, time saving and cost effective approach processes.
  • Perform a variety of specialized maintenance and repair work assigned such as – major overhauls of Engine, Hydraulic pumps & cylinders, Rotary coupling, swing drive, torque hub and other mechanical components.
  • Repair electrical components such as starter motors, alternators, and various controllers used on the AWP’s.
  • Test and perform pressure setting procedures of function pump, control valves, charge & pressure valves, Engine valve lash adjustment.
  • Use testing and measuring instruments to Test, analyze, calibrate and adjust/ upgrade JLG control system, Genie generic system, Teupen TODAC system, EZcal on MEC, Snorkel & Skyjack machines.
  • Read and interpret basic hydraulic & electrical schematic and troubleshoot faults on various AWP’s.
  • Carry out major refurbishment work of AWP’s which involves replacement of boom/scissor assembly and major components.
  • Periodic safety, operation and maintenance inspection of machines at various sites.
  • Install track and trace equipment on AWP’s and upgrade equipment system performance in accordance with manufacturer's safety notice.
Details of more specific additional duties: (Including but not limited to :)
  • Applying approved methods of work & repair practices. Alternative methods will be considered after consultation. An example of approved procedures for the maintenance and repair of equipment is the “Service Work Order”.
  • All Technicians involved in “On site servicing” & “Breakdowns”, must adopt & use the approved procedure only. Examples of some of these procedures are; the correct use & completion of “Field Service Reports”, correct phone procedure, & the polite communication with clients at all times.
  • Any parts replaced must be recorded on the approved “service work order” or “Field service reports”.
  • All parts that are replaced under warranty must have the appropriate paperwork completed as soon as the part has been used. (Determination of warranty status can be obtained from the Workshop Manager).
  • All tools used must be operated in the manner for which they were designed; looked after and returned to their correct location at the end of the working day.
  • All work practices must be safe. Applicable “Personal Protective Equipment”, such as Safety glasses & hearing protection, must be used at all times where applicable.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment and make repetitive hand movement, heights on ladders, to lift, carry, push and or pull moderate amounts of weight, to operate/test the assigned equipment, and communicate to exchange information.
  • Vision should see in the normal visual range with or without correction. Vision sufficient to read computer screens and on board digital controller screens and schematic drawings.

Maintenance Technician - Mechanical

Job Purpose:
  • To optimize the reliability and availability of equipment under area of responsibility through completing
    maintenance Activities in accordance with NOC approved operation procedures, guidelines, legislative
    requirements and industry best practice.
  • Identify opportunities and champion initiatives that enable maximum production and injection output within
    the parameters of environmental compliance and process safety.
  • Provide Team Lead with regular reports with analysis and comment on performance and results. Be held
    accountable for area of responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with external parties, functional teams and corporate groups
    as required to meet NOC strategic business and operational objectives.
  • Contribute to improvements, development and implementation of department activities, processes and
    procedures.
  • Complete safe and efficient replacement and repair activities in the event of failure or malfunction ensuring
    quick restoration; troubleshoot malfunctions and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Optimize production and uptime when executing maintenance activities which require shut down / isolation
    or equipment.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and report repetitive equipment failures.
  • Prepare adequate documentation and reporting for offshore management consideration regarding wrong
    design, poor workmanship, non-compliance to NOC standards; take appropriate action within level of
    Authority.
  • Contribute to Identifying Improvements to planned maintenance routines.

Ideally, you will have graduated with minimum Higher Secondary School Education plus a three-year technical diploma (HNC, HND or equivalent).

Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 5 years offshore level on-field equipment in diversified oil & gas processing or petrochemical plants.

You are fluent in English with both written and verbal communication

You will have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as, a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Profile

- High School Diploma / Technical certificate in Discipline.
- Minimum 4 years recent experience in the petrochemical, refining, oil /gas exploration and/or production industries in a similar role.

Job Description

To perform all aspects of mechanical maintenance for Qatalum Power Plant.

Job Description :

  • Comply with all occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations to protect personnel and physical assets. Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy for safe and effective operations.
  • Work with Qatalum's Work Permit / LOTO System to ensure safety during all work performed.
  • Promote a healthy and safety culture within the Mechanical department.
  • Ensure personal compliance with PPE requirements per Qatalum HSE guidelines.
  • Follow operational procedures and instructions to carry out work in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems for the Power Plant.
  • Review installation standards, report defects and non-conformance issues.
  • Conduct baseline inspections of rotating equipment as directed by the Mechanical Superintendent.
  • Perform routine inspections of mechanical equipment and systems under the supervision of the Mechanical Superintendent, in coordination with Maintenance departments.
  • Assist in completing preventative maintenance activities and provide feedback on their status, in collaboration with Mechanical Planner.
  • Support other departments to ensure high plant availability and quick return to service.
  • Assist in data analysis for Root Cause Analysis.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to identify spare part needs.
  • Assist in auditing spare parts inventory.
  • Work with Mechanical Planning Engineer to ensure data is stored in the CMMS.
  • Provide feedback on the completion percentage of Preventative Maintenance activities.
  • Support the development and training of national employees.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, considering international standards and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Technical / Trade Certificate in a relevant field

Minimum Experience Required

  • 4-6 years experience with Power Plant mechanical equipment and maintenance skills
  • Experience with combined cycle plants and international projects is advantageous

Job Specific Skills

  • Fluency in English
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to high-quality work
  • Strong safety focus
  • Ability to actively participate in Permit to Work System operations
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance instructions
