Your Commitment

We are seeking outstanding individuals capable of teaching first- and second-year Mathematics courses in the General Education Curriculum to support all academic programs of UDST. Courses include - but are not limited to - Algebra and Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I&II, Statistics, Linear Algebra and Numerical Problem Solving.

Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up to date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilise appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans, etc.
Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teaching strategies that meet student needs and abilities (e.g., late-entering students, ESL, low academic ability, gifted and talented).
Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academic development, progress, and attainment of students and use assessment to ensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
Display competence in using media and technology in the classroom.
Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
Communicate with persons outside the school where appropriate (e.g., Ministry of Education officials).
Participate in appraisal and Performance Management procedures and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Work alongside colleagues on the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, courses of study, and pastoral arrangements.
Participate in, and lead where appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes in the school. Promote good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences.
Monitor and supervise safe and appropriate student behavior. Plan and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior.
Model and encourage cultural awareness and understanding and promote a love of learning.
Assist in the planning and organising of school events and functions (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days, etc.).
Communicate and meet with parents regularly, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents regularly informed of students’ progress while respecting the confidentiality of student-related information.

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • A Ph.D. or a Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  • Expertise in teaching one or more areas of mathematics or statistics, such as algebra, analysis, geometry, applied mathematics, probability theory, or statistical methodology.
  • Ability to convey complex mathematical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary academic environment, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Minimum three years of experience in teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate level, with a commitment to excellence in education. GCC experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both Arabic and English languages.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • The applicant is expected to teach all math and statistics courses provided by the unit, using technologies as needed.
  • The applicant is expected to advise students, participate in course and program development and professional development activities, and perform unit, college, and community services or other duties as assigned by the Chair.
  • The applicant's teaching responsibilities may include day and/or evening foundation and/or college-level mathematics and statistics courses on different campuses of the college.
  • Adhere to instructional plans set by the department/program and teach courses according to allocated contact hours.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Hold regular office hours;
  • Plan lessons and assignments in line with college and departmental quality standards
  • Design assessments to measure student progress and grade papers, tests, and other work as per the course syllabus and departmental guidelines.
  • The applicant is expected to be able to communicate effectively in both Arabic and English languages. S/he is expected to maintain professional, ethical, and responsible interactions with students, faculty, and staff
