The Medical Laboratory Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the laboratory by performing a variety of essential tasks that ensure the timely processing of laboratory tests. This position involves collecting, labeling, and preparing biological samples for analysis, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality control standards. The Medical Laboratory Assistant collaborates with laboratory technologists and other healthcare professionals to facilitate accurate diagnostic testing, contributing to patient care. Ultimately, the purpose of this role is to provide critical support to laboratory operations, ensuring that sample processing is carried out efficiently and effectively to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties Include:
- Provide laboratory services in support of the ESHC and patient care including basic procedures not limited to hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, chemistry, and serology.
- Maintain sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties, coordinate preparation and procurement of chemicals, reagents, stains and solutions as appropriate.
- Demonstrate proficiency with hospital and departmental practices that reflect Joint Commission, COLA, CLIA, CAP, CMS, OSHA, HIPAA, Quality Improvement.
- Perform EPA Water Testing Standards and performs work at a level to meet these standards; demonstrate technical proficiency through successful participation in laboratory Proficiency Testing programs.
- All laboratory operations shall be conducted in compliance with established protocols, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Follow procedure for sending test specimens to the U.S. and transmitting test results back to the requesting subcontractor for occupational drug testing required by another contract.
- Maintain and protects the confidentiality of patient information.
- Is accountable for maintaining and improving own laboratory knowledge and skill competence.
- Provides patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients in the hospital and clinic departments on a 24-hour basis.
- Supports the hospital’s philosophy, objectives and goals and organization mission and vision
- Respects and supports patient rights.
- Promotes and practices positive customer and peer relations and cost containment for the Laboratory Department and patient.
- Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures. Strong computer skills desired.
- Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.
- Participate in mass-casualty drills twice a year and remain available for on-call coverage.
- Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diversity.
- Maintains responsibility for patient identification, specimen labelling and collection verification.
- Instructing healthcare providers and clinicians in collection and preservation techniques of specimens for analysis on both adult and pediatric patients.

- Serve to the cover laboratory needs outside of routine hours by sharing on-call duties with other Laboratory Technologists.
- Coordinate and participate in performance and interpretation of complex technical duties in support of medical laboratory testing; record determinations and results for review by physician/provider staff; Perform a variety of assays on human, veterinary and environmental specimens.
- Proficiently and consistently complete accurate, concise and legible documentation of laboratory testing results and records. Includes documentation of maintenance, quality control, calibration, and other laboratory records.
- Ensure remedial action is taken and documented whenever testing systems deviate from established performance specifications.

- Must possess current skills in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology and urinalysis.
- Ability to demonstrate dexterity, knowledge, and ability to complete assigned laboratory tasks and skills, attention to detail and compliance with all appropriate regulatory and safety requirements including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.
- Require knowledge and analytic abilities to perform highly complex testing, to interpret findings, perform calculations, calibrate instrumentation and review testing performed by other technologists.
- Working knowledge of and ability to implement the requirements for COLA, CLIA, and CLIP Laboratory Accreditation.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
- Considerable knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology; considerable knowledge of computers and computerized lab equipment.
- Experience involving patient contact, customer service in a medical setting, strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must possess visual acuity required to distinguish fine gradations of color and/or texture.
- Proficient oral and written communication abilities in English.
- Flexible and willing to work in a culturally diverse environment.

**Requirements;**
- Should have at least 5 years of experience in Oil & Gas Production Chemistry Lab.
- Should have at least a Diploma in Chemistry.
- Should have a Valid H2S certificate, valid T-BOSIET certificate, and Medical Fitness Certificate.
- Collect representative samples such as gas, condensate, NGL, water crude oil, drilling fluids, cement from all field locations.
- Perform routine and non-routine laboratory and onsite analysis of crude oil, water, gas, solid/deposits, drilling fluids, and cement samples by using standard methods and procedures
- Perform quality control program to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical results.
- Maintain all records related to the sampling process, analysis, instrument maintenance.
- Prepare standard solutions and reagents used for analysis. Operate laboratory instruments used for laboratory analysis.
- Process and document the analytical results for timely reporting.
- Inform Laboratory In-charge about all material required sufficiently in advance in the laboratory such as chemicals and consumables to ensure no analytical service interruptions.

Job DescriptionJob Objectives:
To carry out tests and analysis which are scope of Spectral & Metallurgical Section (sampling, sample preparation and preservation, analyzing, registering results) according to valid Qatalum Laboratory Standards.
Job Description:
- Receive samples (or sample if applicable) from customers and undertake sample preservation/analysis, ensure results are accurate and delivered/registered on time and that samples are correctly identified at all times.
- Ensure all laboratory analysis comply with written SOP's.
- Draft SOP's/OPL's in Inosa (for assigned responsibility areas as per competence matrix).
- Handle deviations (in procedures and results) as per respective SOP's.
- Communicate suspicious results to the Chemist
- Dispose excess/analysed samples in proper way to reduce waste generation. Monitor disposal of all analysed/preserved materials.
- Understand department KPI's/PI's. Contribute to meeting the KPI's targets within defined roles and responsibilities
- Active participation in department meetings i.e. HSE talks, morning meetings, department meetings, based on availability and requirement.
- Ensure proper storage of all chemicals, glassware, spares, and gases.
- Ensure effective usage of consumables as well as their availability.
- Ensure instrument calibration and standard results are accurate and report analysed values in a timely manner
- Equipment first line maintenance and on time notification for any breakdown issues.
