The primary role of the English Instructor is to deliver the English curriculum to the military students in accordance with all processes and policies at the QTI. The role involves teaching and supporting the creation, maintenance, and delivery of the English programme to specific standards in the Foundation department. The instructor will engage in regular feedback meetings with Senior Instructors to support continuous improvement. They must demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to ongoing professional development and improvement initiatives within the QTI. Key responsibilities include: Effective delivery of the curriculum according to QTI policies and procedures. Ensuring military students progress well against CEFR standards. Supporting department and instructor development through continuous improvement opportunities. Fostering a culture of reflection and improvement with a positive, solution-focused attitude. Collaborating with all English and other subject instructors to maximize student success. Reporting on student progress, attendance, and behavior to management. Engaging with the QTI’s performance management policies to meet objectives. Core Activities
Operate within all mandated SHE guidelines, demonstrating excellent SHE behavior and completing mandatory training. Undertake all core duties, including teaching English to military students preparing for engineering programs, applying consistent classroom behavior rules, and managing administrative tasks such as data entry and covering absences. Plan and deliver effective lessons using differentiated instructional techniques, develop supplementary materials, and provide feedback. Maintain operational performance, support course development, and utilize proper communication channels and new technology. Record, share, and analyze necessary data, assess students, and ensure accurate and timely record-keeping. Maintain positive relationships with military personnel, respecting rules and interacting positively. Requirements
Required: Qualified teacher status with relevant education and training qualifications (e.g., CELTA, TESOL, PGCE, MA, BA in ELT/TESOL/Education). Relevant experience teaching English to international students, especially in the Middle East (desirable but not essential). Experience with IELTS teaching and examinations. Experience in a military setting (desirable). Strong soft skills across a multidisciplinary department. Ability to utilize various teaching and administrative technologies.

Job Description

Key aspects of the English Instructor role are: Effective delivery of the curriculum in accordance with relevant policies and procedures within the QTI. Ensuring military students make good progress as measured against the CEFR. Support the development of the department and instructors by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Support a culture of reflection and improvement, and show a passion for teaching with a can-do, solution focused attitude. Work collaboratively with all English instructors, and instructors of other subjects, to provide students with the best chance of success in the Foundation programme. Regularly report student progress, attendance and behaviour to Foundation management. Engage with the QTI’s performance management policy effectively to ensure objectives are met. Core Activity
