Job Summary

The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for assisting in determining all commercial legal activities of the Group and ensuring they are carried out in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and company charters. The role involves assessing, controlling, and providing legal information to stakeholders (e.g., cases, statutes, regulations), offering accurate and timely counsel to executives on various legal topics, collaborating with management to develop effective defense strategies, and specifying internal governance policies while monitoring compliance.

Job Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the development of PIH’s vision, mission, and strategy, leading the business unit’s strategic planning to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
2. Advise, prepare, draft, review, comment on, and negotiate complex contractual documents and legal documentation for local and international EPC projects.
3. Participate in reviewing and negotiating tenders and contracts with clients, including MOUs, NDAs, consortium agreements, joint ventures, and agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.
4. Provide legal advice and opinions on risks and related commercial issues.
5. Support general business law issues and manage legal matters across the company, including corporate, procurement, safety, security, insurance, and sustainability issues.
6. Identify and assess legal risks associated with business strategies and operations.
7. Ensure compliance of business operations with relevant laws and regulations.
8. Promote and maintain legal awareness among employees regarding compliance requirements.

The position is geared towards individuals who specialise in Ship Finance, having worked (either currently or previously) at an international law firm. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of a team of six high calibre lawyers reporting directly to the General Counsel.

Some of your duties will include:

1. Provide legal advice and support to the entire organisation, its subsidiaries and joint venture companies.
2. Address the entire legal concerns of the Commercial and Fleet department in respect of negotiation and interpretation of different types of contractual agreements.
