About Role

An exciting opportunity to join the Qatar Airways Group Medical Department as Pharmacy Technician. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible to support the Company Pharmacist in the day-to-day running of The Medical Centre Pharmacy and Qatar Airways Medical Kit operation, ensuring the chain of custody of the Medical Kits from pharmacy to aircraft is marinated.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and ensures that the medications are prepared accurately under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Complies with local rules and regulations in regard to pharmacy activities, including but not limited to preparation, labeling, and delivery of medication and other pharmaceutical supplies.
• Receive pharmaceutical and consumable orders from suppliers, ensure accurate product quantity and information as per purchase order and invoice before signing the delivery note.
• Perform quality checks of all Medical Kit existing items, and issue Medical Kits conformity certificate accordingly.
• Ensure medical kits are sealed, stored at the correct location, and secured against unauthorized access.
• Responsible for the pharmaceutical and medical kits storage locations/shelves layout to ensure first in first out procedure is followed at all time, and work towards achieving zero expiries of pharmaceutical.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain for the collection and drop off of medical kits and other materials required for operation.
• Assist Company Pharmacist during a planned or random stock audit by performing physical counting of stock/inventory, and report any discrepancies to on-duty Company Pharmacist.
• Perform other department duties as directed by Company Pharmacist.
• Update pharmaceutical price list and list of registered pharmaceuticals according to circulars released by Pharmacy and Drug Control Director.
• Prepare and generate monthly productivity, pharmaceutical consumption, financial and other reports as required for operation.
• Conducts checks and calibration of equipment as required. Recognizes, reports, and advises on discrepancies in performance and initiates remedial action in light of this information.
• Performs shift duties as assigned, including weekends and public holidays.

Knowledge Skills & Experience

We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join our Group Medical Department team. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

• Relevant vocational, tertiary, or trade qualification. E.g. Diploma in pharmacy technician.
• At least four years of working experience handling pharmaceutical stock in hospital pharmacy or drug store is required.
• Able to hold a pharmacy technician license to practice in Qatar.
• Fluent in the English Language.
• Computer literacy with knowledge of various stock management software.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

We provide clinical services to include hands-on direct care at over 800 sites worldwide, telemedicine, a global network of providers, and international medical support. • The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures. Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician may measure, mix, count, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders.
• Assist pharmacist to provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services, including but not limited to:
• Intake and recording of all prescriptions received.
• Accurate packaging and dispensing of prescriptions.
• Providing patient counseling on the proper use of medication and possible adverse reactions.
• Polypharmacy counseling.
• Ensuring child-resistant packaging in accordance with FDA guidelines.
• Maintaining accurate and complete records of all prescribed medications.
• Developing and managing a formulary aligned with the population and services.
• Managing non-formulary, controlled medications, and other critical medications (e.g., resuscitation, medications unique to pregnant individuals).
• Adverse drug reaction reporting.
• Medication error reporting.
• Ensure frequently prescribed medications are FDA-approved and sourced from a US supplier or EMA-recommended sources.
• Infrequently used medications can be sourced from a trusted local pharmacy with Program Manager concurrence.
• Collect required data daily, including prescriptions dispensed and the number of patients receiving prescriptions; report data for monthly status reports.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including USFDA guidelines, in dispensing and clinical pharmacy operations.
• Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
• Performs tasks such as retrieving, pouring, counting, weighing, measuring, and sometimes mixing/compounding medication.
• Perform administrative duties such as answering phones and stocking shelves.
• Prepare prescription labels, select containers, and apply labels to containers.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain and monitor cold chain pharmaceutical, including vaccines, in all locations where cold chain items are located.
• Assist Pharmacist with monitoring monthly medication usage and determining required par levels.
• Assist Pharmacist with controlled substances procedures and accountability.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
• Participate in mass-casualty drills twice a year and remain available for on-call coverage.
• Complete required organizational compliance education for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including US FDA guidelines, in the operation of the dispensing pharmacy and provision of clinical pharmacy services.
• Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
