Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to adult patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions, in compliance with the standards and regulations of the
Qatar Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP)
. The Specialist in Internal Medicine will manage inpatient cases, perform in-house night duties, and ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care
- Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of adult medical inpatients in accordance with international best practices and DHP standards.
- Conduct daily inpatient rounds and review all new admissions, ensuring appropriate investigations, treatment plans, and follow-up.
- Attend to medical emergencies within the department and respond promptly to internal calls for consultation from other hospital units (ICU, ER, Surgery, etc.).
- Perform
in-house night calls
on a rotational basis, managing acute admissions, inpatient reviews, and emergency medical cases. - Ensure continuity of care by providing detailed handovers to colleagues and maintaining clear documentation in the patient's medical record.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions, case reviews, and morbidity/mortality meetings.
Administrative & Reporting
- Report directly to the
Head of the Internal Medicine Department
regarding clinical matters, departmental activities, and patient outcomes. - Contribute to developing and implementing clinical protocols, care pathways, and departmental quality improvement initiatives.
- Document all patient encounters, procedures, and management plans accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with hospital policies and DHP documentation standards.
- Participate in departmental audits, peer reviews, and continuous medical education sessions.
Compliance & Governance
- Maintain a valid
DHP license
as Specialist in Internal Medicine and adhere to all Qatar regulatory requirements. - Follow infection control protocols, patient safety standards, and hospital policies to ensure quality and safety in all clinical activities.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards at all times.
Teaching & Development
- Engage in continuous professional development activities and attend CME programs as per DHP and hospital requirements.

Residency and board certification in Internal Medicine (recognized by DHP). - Licensure:
