Job Description
Role Objective:
Responsible for managing the mechanical maintenance activities within the assigned plant area, ensuring adherence to technical requirements and implementation of effective maintenance practices. The role involves supervising day-to-day operations, coordinating with other departments, and supporting the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of maintenance staff. The engineer is expected to continually enhance maintenance processes for improved equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Detailed Roles and Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
· Execute daily mechanical maintenance activities for assigned plant areas and carry out corrective and preventive maintenance of rotary and static equipment such as kiln, raw mill, cement mill, crushers, fans, blowers, compressors, bucket elevators, conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes.
· Supervise mechanical fitters, technicians, and contractors during maintenance and repair works.
· Ensure all jobs are executed safely, on time, and with the required quality standards.
· Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns; diagnose faults and restore operation promptly.
· Analyze repetitive failures and propose long-term corrective measures.
Coordination and Planning
· Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams during troubleshooting.
· Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks as per the maintenance schedule.
· Perform equipment condition checks (vibration, temperature, noise, leakage, alignment).
· Report potential failures and recommend proactive actions.
· Support condition monitoring and inspection teams with data collection and technical feedback.
· Participate and supervise during plant shutdowns — plan, prepare, and execute mechanical overhaul jobs.
· Coordinate manpower, tools, and spare parts with planning and inspection teams.
Materials and Tools Management
· Identify spare part requirements, raise material requisitions, and verify spare parts upon receipt to ensure proper fitment.
· Maintain tools and tackles inventory for maintenance works.
· Support reliability and planning teams in defining critical spares.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
· Enforce plant safety standards and ensure compliance with LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) procedures.
· Conduct toolbox talks, perform risk assessments, and ensure proper use of PPE by all team members.
· Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to company HSE policies and procedures.
Reporting and Documentation
· Record all maintenance work orders, breakdown reports, and daily activities in the CMMS / SAP system.
· Update equipment maintenance history and provide feedback to the planning section.
· Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance execution reports.
· Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and recommend improvement actions to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
· Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within the
cement industry
.
· Strong knowledge of rotary and static equipment maintenance.
· Familiarity with CMMS/SAP systems and maintenance best practices.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Strong leadership and communication abilities.

Accountabilities
- Review capital spares status and provides recommendations for preservation and storage
- Review and recommends min / max spare parts level for non-moving, obsolete, surplus, spares and consolidate and updates the files on a continuous basis to ensure optimum quantity in warehouse and minimise financial exposure.
- Review Recommended Spare Parts lists (RSPL) and recommend spare parts for all new projects. Review stock that has passed shelf life and recommend replenishing or scrap as necessary.
- Support the Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) and review the offer provided by Buyer/Supply department for the spares of mechanical equipment (rotating and static equipment)
- Review all Interface agreements between new projects and existing operations related to Mechanical Discipline from maintenance perspective.
- Support the engineering feasibility study (eMOC – management of change) in coordination with required disciplines and develop mitigation solution for Obsolescence Management to upgrade obsolete mechanical equipment & its components (such as pumps, compressors, vessels, valves, gaskets etc.).
- Perform Obsolescence Management activities for equipment and Spares to ensure business continuity and minimize operation risks
- Review of all mechanical Master Data Governance (MDG) studies (Material creation, change, deletion and obsolete) through SAP.
- Develop and review policies and procedures relevant to Obsolescence & Life cycle Management.
- Liaise effectively with relevant stakeholders as required.
Bachelor in Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent from a recognized university
Knowledge and/or Experience
- 4 years’ experience in an oil and gas or petrochemical industry related to Mechanical Engineering.
- Maintenance experience on Mechanical Equipment (Static and Rotating) such as heat exchangers, boilers, vessels, valves, pumps, compressors and gas turbines.
- Mechanical Engineering domain knowledge for below Equipment/systems such as Pumps, Compressors, Gas Turbines, Blowers, Heat exchangers, Valves, Loading arms and ship loaders etc.
- Awareness of relevant API Standard, ASME, NACE etc.
- Computer literate with knowledge of SAP and commonly used Microsoft business software packages.
- Good adaptability to multinational environment, with wide exposure to various cultures and customs.
- Fluent in English language (demonstrated verbal and written skills).

Maintenance Technician - Mechanical
Job Purpose:
- To optimize the reliability and availability of equipment under area of responsibility through completing
maintenance Activities in accordance with NOC approved operation procedures, guidelines, legislative
requirements and industry best practice. - Identify opportunities and champion initiatives that enable maximum production and injection output within
the parameters of environmental compliance and process safety. - Provide Team Lead with regular reports with analysis and comment on performance and results. Be held
accountable for area of responsibility. - Establish and maintain effective relationships with external parties, functional teams and corporate groups
as required to meet NOC strategic business and operational objectives. - Contribute to improvements, development and implementation of department activities, processes and
procedures. - Complete safe and efficient replacement and repair activities in the event of failure or malfunction ensuring

Ideally, you will have graduated with minimum Higher Secondary School Education plus a three-year technical diploma (HNC, HND or equivalent).
Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 5 years offshore level on-field equipment in diversified oil & gas processing or petrochemical plants.
You are fluent in English with both written and verbal communication
You will have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as, a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Profile
- High School Diploma / Technical certificate in Discipline.
- Minimum 4 years recent experience in the petrochemical, refining, oil /gas exploration and/or production industries in a similar role.
