Role Objective:
Responsible for managing the mechanical maintenance activities within the assigned plant area, ensuring adherence to technical requirements and implementation of effective maintenance practices. The role involves supervising day-to-day operations, coordinating with other departments, and supporting the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of maintenance staff. The engineer is expected to continually enhance maintenance processes for improved equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Detailed Roles and Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
· Execute daily mechanical maintenance activities for assigned plant areas and carry out corrective and preventive maintenance of rotary and static equipment such as kiln, raw mill, cement mill, crushers, fans, blowers, compressors, bucket elevators, conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes.
· Supervise mechanical fitters, technicians, and contractors during maintenance and repair works.
· Ensure all jobs are executed safely, on time, and with the required quality standards.
· Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns; diagnose faults and restore operation promptly.
· Analyze repetitive failures and propose long-term corrective measures.
Coordination and Planning
· Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams during troubleshooting.
· Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks as per the maintenance schedule.
· Perform equipment condition checks (vibration, temperature, noise, leakage, alignment).
· Report potential failures and recommend proactive actions.
· Support condition monitoring and inspection teams with data collection and technical feedback.
· Participate and supervise during plant shutdowns — plan, prepare, and execute mechanical overhaul jobs.
· Coordinate manpower, tools, and spare parts with planning and inspection teams.
Materials and Tools Management
· Identify spare part requirements, raise material requisitions, and verify spare parts upon receipt to ensure proper fitment.
· Maintain tools and tackles inventory for maintenance works.
· Support reliability and planning teams in defining critical spares.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
· Enforce plant safety standards and ensure compliance with LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) procedures.
· Conduct toolbox talks, perform risk assessments, and ensure proper use of PPE by all team members.
· Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to company HSE policies and procedures.
Reporting and Documentation
· Record all maintenance work orders, breakdown reports, and daily activities in the CMMS / SAP system.
· Update equipment maintenance history and provide feedback to the planning section.
· Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance execution reports.
· Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and recommend improvement actions to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
· Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within the
cement industry
.
· Strong knowledge of rotary and static equipment maintenance.
· Familiarity with CMMS/SAP systems and maintenance best practices.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Job Summary:
The Facility Maintenance Planner is a hybrid role that bridges facilities management, procurement, and maintenance planning. The role's primary responsibility is to ensure facility maintenance activities are properly planned, documented, executed, and supported by timely procurement of goods and services. This position requires strong coordination skills, the ability to work cross-functionally, and a proactive approach to keeping the facility operating efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
Responsibilities:
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Source, negotiate, and purchase facility-related goods and services (equipment, spare parts, consumables, tools, etc.).
- Onboard, manage, and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Review and manage contracts, service agreements, renewals, and vendor performance.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, U.S. government regulations, and local Qatari regulations. Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and optimize preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, generators, etc.).
- Create and manage job orders in ALCS (Automated Logistics Control System), track progress, and document completion.
- Work with Logistics to ensure spare parts, consumables, and services are available on time to support scheduled maintenance. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Assist in developing and monitoring facility maintenance budgets.
- Track procurement commitments, expenditures, and reporting in alignment with program requirements.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or compliance. Facility Operations Support
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements and applicable standards.
- Support emergency response and urgent maintenance needs by coordinating with internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Collaborate with facilities management, operations, and program teams to ensure operational availability of facility infrastructure.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ability to deploy full-time to Qatar; 100% on-site support is required.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and successfully pass a health screening physical.
- +2 years of professional experience in facilities management, procurement, or maintenance planning.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract administration.
- Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling systems (ALCS or equivalent tools).
