Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Quality Controller who will be responsible for checking the quality of all incoming and outgoing material and products as well as the production procedures. You will be a firm advocate of quality in our business.

The ideal candidate will possess a trained eye for detail and will be reliable and committed. In depth knowledge and comprehension of quality standards is essential. The goal is to ensure that our products are made of flawless materials with well-functioning equipment. That way our customers will enjoy high-quality service so that we can achieve long-term success.

Main Responsibilities
  • Inspect procedures of the entire production cycle (from purchasing to customer delivery) to ensure they are efficient and comply with Food Safety & Quality standards.
  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the concerned managers.
  • Maintain records of testing, information, and various metrics such as the number of defective products per day, kitchen inspection results, Hygiene & Sanitation Inspection, etc.
  • Monitor the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and well-maintained and report any that doesn’t meet the requirements.
  • Select output samples and check them using appropriate methods (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing to specifications, etc.).
  • Conduct staff awareness training sessions on food safety & quality.
  • Support the team to develop and implement a food safety & quality management system.
  • Address customer complaints by conducting a thorough investigation and preparing a corrective action plan for non-conformities.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the line manager.
Ideal Candidate
  • Must have had a minimum of 3 years of previous proven experience as a quality controller, or any relevant role in the catering or hotel industry.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a Food Background (Food Technology/Food Science/Microbiology/Bio-Chemistry etc.).
  • Must be HACCP certified with a Level 03 as a minimum requirement.
  • Familiarity with quality testing machines and systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills.
  • Possesses a confident, firm, and pleasant personality that can work well with a team.
  • Currently located in Qatar.
  • Familiar with Qatar's rules and regulations as per the municipality/MOH.

- Ensure timely review of quality parameters as per agreed process and goal.
- Acts as SPOC for audits and assessments and follow-up actions
- Track, monitor, report out project metrics and identify systemic improvements
- Organize Project Review Meeting with all relevant partners.

Responsible to find opportunities for continuous process improvement
- Guides the team on setting up the project in terms of identifying Q- requirements, Quality goals
- Provide support to teams by observing, consulting and providing feedbacks for improvement
- Guides team through root cause analysis and monitors corrective & preventive actions.

Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or business administration and recognized qualification on similar projects
- Experience and training as ISO 9001 Lead auditor is essential also experience with ISO 45001 and compliance auditing is advantageous
- Solid quality and safety management experience from Electrical or Mechanical Domain
- 10 years proven experience as a senior quality assurance role in large scale, complex infrastructure systems.
- Transit operational system work experience is highly appreciated with at least 5 years’ experience specialist quality assurance role working with rail infrastructure projects.
- Experience Maintaining and updating project safety case document and its related documentations in line with EN 50129, EN 50128, EN 50126
- Work experience abroad with multicultural teams with very good experience in working with a multi-national company and working in the Middle East
- Very good command of both the spoken and written English language
- Solid computer skills and knowledge
- Good knowledge of quality tools for Metrics data analysis and decision making
- Highly energetic and “Go-getter”
- Display of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, sophisticated and cross-functional problems is expected
- Advanced knowledge of organization's business practices and problem resolution techniques.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (e.g. Moderation, presentation to all levels)
- Ability to work in accordance with the applicable project procedure / targets
- Self-motivation and ability to priorities and organize workload without supervision
- Teamwork mind-set

The country of Qatar continues to experience substantial construction growth with infrastructure budgets rising to over $120B for infrastructure and road projects by 2018. Our client seeks to support Qatar’s National Development Strategy , the FIFA World Cup 2022 event and fulfil Qatar’s National Vision 2030. To support this substantial growth, our client; the public works authority; has created a number of senior management expatriate postings for urgent commencement. With long term prospects providing stability and career development, our employer is looking to recruit an experienced Business Process Improvement Specialist to their team to add value in an advisory capacity.

Your responsibilities in the role will include:

  1. Understand, document and improve the current working processes across functions (Core and Support functions) in detail.
  2. Analyze the working process, evaluate effectiveness, discovering the gaps and the weakness points.
  3. Reengineer the identified processes and suggest efficient working procedures that satisfy the organization’s business goals, objectives, quality culture and strategy.
  4. Perform continuous studies and research to improve the business process and give recommendations to top management regarding the most suitable methodologies.
  5. Lead process owners and stakeholders through the business process improvement process.
  6. Perform effective change management to ensure sustainability of changes.
  7. Help develop the corporate continuous improvement project plan.
  8. Provide change inputs to existing Enterprise Systems based on business processes.
  9. Discover opportunities and conduct business process benchmarking with other companies.
  10. Manage process improvement projects in the organization using industry-standard project management techniques.

Essential attributes include:

  1. Degree qualification in Commerce or comparable with Master’s Degree from a recognized institution being highly regarded.
  2. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in business process re-engineering and methodologies is required, with experience in Government and GCC being highly desirable.
  3. Ability to map processes including identifying critical path and areas to improve within the processes.
  4. Ability to undertake sensitivity analysis for the existing processes.
  5. Experience and knowledge in Quality Management tools (TQM, EFQM).
  6. Experience in Construction industry with focus on Public Works or Utility services.
  7. Strong knowledge in business processing tools such as VISIO or QPR is a plus and other BPR software.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
  9. Problem solver with out of the box thinking.
  10. Exposure to statistical tools for analysing processes is desirable.
  11. Lean or Six Sigma training and implementation experience is desirable.
  12. Ability to work across multi-functional teams to deliver quality on time and in a collaborative environment.
  13. Arabic language fluency is desirable.
