A strategic opportunity for an experienced Legal and Compliance Advisor to support legal and regulatory matters for a major organisation. This role includes providing legal advice across departments, managing legal risks, overseeing compliance activities, and acting as a key liaison with external legal counsel. Key Responsibilities :
Legal Advisory Duties :
Provide legal guidance and consultation to the CEO and department heads on company-related matters.
Support corporate legal activities including joint ventures, partnerships, and restructuring.
Draft and review contracts, tenders, proposals, policies, resolutions, and other legal documents.
Ensure organisational compliance with local legal frameworks by reviewing company policies and procedures.
Provide legal support to HR on personnel issues such as grievances and investigations.
Manage legal disputes and coordinate with external lawyers, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
Maintain confidential legal records and assist with legal risk mitigation strategies.
Compliance Duties :
Oversee the Compliance Officer in executing audits and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Review compliance registers, audit findings, and reports to ensure accuracy and alignment with legal standards.
Support legal interpretations of regulatory frameworks and facilitate discussions with external legal bodies.
Approve and validate compliance findings before reporting to executive management and the board.
Assist in identifying and resolving compliance issues and driving continual improvement of compliance processes.
Other Duties :
Serve as Board Secretary and maintain official documentation.
Establish frameworks to manage and monitor legal and compliance tasks.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO.
Key Performance Indicators :
Timely review of legal and contractual documents.
Number of legal risks identified, resolved, or averted.
Effective implementation of legal policies and compliance frameworks.
Quality and timeliness of legal advice and reporting.
Internal and External Collaboration :
Work with all departments internally.
Liaise externally with legal firms, government authorities, and potential business partners.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Law or a comparable discipline.
Professional certification from a recognised legal institution is preferred.
Experience :
5-8 years of relevant legal experience.
Proven experience in drafting legal contracts, managing compliance frameworks, and working with external counsel.
Skills :
Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
High ethical standards and sound legal judgement.
Analytical thinker with excellent decision-making skills.
