Wood are actively hiring for Cost Controller role to support future growth in our expanding business.
The projects team focusing on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets.
This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate must have strong experience in preparation and reporting of project cost budgets, and the tracking, management and reporting of project expenditure to enable robust control of projects throughout their lifecycle. Assists in the preparation and reporting of project cost budgets, in accordance with contractual requirements and Wood policies, procedures and standards. This will typically involve the review, analysis and reporting of actual and forecasted project costs against the project approved budget.

Typical responsibilities
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for specific scopes
- Assist in the development of project budgets in accordance with the Basis of Estimate including statements of work scope, assumptions, man-hour estimates, narratives and review & comment of client documents
- Liaise with procurement, finance and time-capture functions, and third parties as required, to support accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract and labour manhour costs, allocating costs in accordance with approved project WBS
- Liaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions, and others as required, to
maintain awareness of project activities and their impact on the project budget, schedule and cost forecast. - Support the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project cost budgets using appropriate software applications
- Monitor cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of project lifecycle
- Provide input to project cost performance reports in accordance with project reporting
requirements - Support the preparation of updates to project cost forecasts
- Assist in the monitoring and reporting on cost impact of project manpower forecasts
- Assist in development of project change orders / variations in accordance with engineering and construction change notifications
- May facilitate and communicate cost and schedule impact of change notifications.
- Monitor overall project cost performance and contingency drawdown.
- Attend project meetings as required.
- Participate in the project cost close-out process.
- Attend cost & estimate risk analysis sessions as required
- Participate in Project Controls Compliance and Continuous Improvement Reviews

2. Budgeting & Forecasting
· Assist in preparing budgets, cost forecasts, and financial projections.
· Work closely with the operations and finance teams to ensure alignment between financial goals and operational performance.
· Monitor cost trends and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
3. Inventory & Stock Control
· Monitor inventory usage and stock levels across all locations or outlets.
· Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
· Support inventory valuation and work with procurement on ordering strategies.
4. Menu & Recipe Costing
· Calculate accurate food and beverage costs per menu item.
· Maintain and update recipe costing sheets and ensure pricing consistency.
· Analyze menu profitability and suggest adjustments where necessary.
5. Compliance & Reporting
· Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and industry standards.
· Prepare cost-related reports for senior management on a regular basis.
· Support external audits and internal reviews with required documentation and data.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Cost Controller, ideally within the food & beverage and hospitality sector.
· Experience with inventory management systems and cost accounting principles.
· Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high attention to detail.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
· Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory software.
· Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
· Ability to communicate cost-related insights to non-financial stakeholders.

Position: Senior Cost Control Engineer
Location: Site base
Job Purpose:
Implement cost control procedures and analyze project costs to ensure alignment with budgets, providing reliable forecasts and supporting decision-making.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Prepare and maintain project cost control plans and budgets.
• Track and Monitor actual costs versus budget, analyze variances and identify trends.
• Develop cost forecasts and cash flow projections, highlighting deviations.
• Coordinate with project teams to validate cost data and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in the development of cost control procedures and templates.
• Manage cost coding and ensure proper allocation of costs to work breakdown structures.
• Analyze committed costs, accruals, and booked cost to identify variances
• Monitor CPI, SPI, CV and SV to assess project performance.
• Develop and Issue Key Performance Indicators to evaluate cost code allocation, productivity, resource utilization, project performance.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier cost .
• Assist with change management by assessing cost impacts of changes.
• Conduct cost risk analyses and maintain contingency allocations.
• Provide training to junior cost engineers and contribute to the development of cost control systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 7+ years cost control experience with 2+ years in senior role is preferable.
- Analytical skills and ability to lead small teams.
- Training in cost control software and forecasting techniques.
