Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with proven leadership abilities to oversee database operations and lead a team of DBAs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, secure, and scalable Oracle database environments while mentoring and guiding the database team to deliver excellent support and solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical (Hands-On) Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle database servers (versions 12c, 19c, and beyond).
- Manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, ASM, and RMAN backup/recovery strategies.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for proactive monitoring and alerting.
- Implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
- Ensure database security through user access management, encryption, and patching.
- Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with development teams for schema design, PL/SQL programming, and performance reviews.
- Develop automation scripts (Shell, Python, Ansible, etc.) for operational efficiency.
Leadership & Team Management Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of DBAs (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc. as applicable).
- Assign tasks, set goals, and conduct regular performance reviews for team members.
- Establish and enforce database administration standards, policies, and best practices.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and project teams for database-related needs.
- Drive database strategy, architecture improvements, and roadmap planning.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide 24/7 support for mission-critical systems (on-call rotation management).
- Manage vendor relationships, licenses, and support contracts for database technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 2–3 years in a team lead role .
- Strong expertise in:
- Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and RMAN.
- OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and database monitoring.
- Backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery planning.
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Familiarity with other RDBMS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM).
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
